LUV my 3 Furrs & Alex Donating Member | Problem yorkies...wipe bum Hi there I have a problem and I am not sure if this is common in yorkshire terriers, but here it goes. I have two yorkies and every single time after they've had a poop they wipe their bums on the carpet, sometimes even if they haven't had a poop. Cn anyone tell me if this is normal? I have read on a maltese forum that they have to have their anal glands expressed. What does that mean and is this true? Would appreciate any responses please

| I havent done this myself but yes they probably need their anal glands squeezed. I have heard people on here say they have done it themselves, but i think its probably better to have the vet or groomer do it. There is some liquid that gets built up in there and it can be uncomfy for them. Last edited by Marina; 03-21-2007 at 06:40 AM. Reason: spelling |

| How old are they? My vet said as long as they stop after a certain age it isn't a problem. My pup is now almost 6mo and he used to do it everyday since I got him at 16weeks, but when he hit about 5months he stopped. |
