| 2 Pounds at 8 Weeks? Normal? So only 16 more days left...Yes, after a long wait, I can actually talk in terms of days and weeks... I just talked to my breeder yesterday and he told me that my baby boy is about 2 pounds, 3 inches high and 5 inches long...Now, I have a couple of questions. Is it too much for a Yorkie to weigh 2 pounds at almost 8 weeks? Do the height and length sounds OK? I dont know how much an 8 week of should weight, I just want to know if he is normal. Thanks! |

| Awww I must've missed that you decided to get a Yorkie pup. Congratulations!! As for the weight, it seems to be on the bigger side. My pup weighed about 1.5 at 10 weeks and ended up weighing almost 6 lbs now, at 9.5 months. I know they all gain differently and you can't really assume much, I think judging by the size of the parents and grandparents you might get an idea. As for the inches... I can't really tell... sorry

| As for the weight, it seems to be on the bigger side. I agree, it does seem to be on the bigger side as Lucy weighed 1.7 at 12 weeks. She now weighs about 8lbs at a year. It depends on the parents. How big are they? Were you looking for a yorkie on the smaller side, if not, it should be about average! Good Luck and Congratulations !!

| Lacy weighed 1.1 lbs at 10 weeks and now at 16 weeks she weighs about 1.4 lbs...your pup is on the bigger size but depending on his parents he could be standard size or not.. Stacey and lacy |

| When I got Kona at 7 weeks she was about 2 pounds - I think maybe 2.2. Now she is just over a year old she is maybe 4 pounds - she hasn't been weighed in a while. Bernie was a little less than 2 pounds at 12 weeks, now he is 10 months old and he is probably 5.5 pounds. He is certainly all muscle. I would have thought that Kona would weigh more than Bernie since she was 2 pounds so much younger than him, but it didn't work out that way. I wouldn't stress. They will be loveable and playful no matter what! Enjoy!

| It sounds "normal" but on the larger side. On the other hand, my Kiki weighed over 2 lbs at 8 weeks, and now at one year old, she is barely over five lbs. So it's true that they just grow at different rates sometimes!

| LOL I think it is a good weight. Diesel was 1.9 at 9 weeks. Now he weighs right at 5 pounds and he will be 2 in July. I think they are all different. I don't think he is on the bigger side at all. You should also look at the parents to get an idea on how big he might be.

| size It depends on what size adult you are hoping and paying for...when the breeder says ABOUT 2 pounds..that can mean 2 1/4 even 2 1/2 to some breeders...if you want a 7 pounder, then that sounds good, if you want and are paying for a tiny, it is too much..I think 2 full pounds at 8 weeks results in a nice size pet... |

| 2 lbs is normal. Hootie and Hobbs were both 2lbs when we brought them home at 8 weeks and now both of them are 3lbs fully grown. |

| See that is my point. All dogs are different. You have to really look at the parents. I don't think that because he weighs 2 pounds at 8 weeks that there is any guarantee that he will be "big'.

| size I have never had a puppy weigh 2 pounds at 8 weeks and only grow to 3 poiunds..so do not count on this puppy stopping at that weight..it is NOT the norm..they tend to triple the 8 weeks weight..and double the 12 week weight...I do not find the 8 week rate to be as accurate...12 wk rarely fails for me.. |
