Started sleeping under the bed recently, help!!! Adonis is 6 years old, and I just got Venus last August. Adonis has always slept with me. Venus started sleeping with us about October or so. This past week, when its bedtime, Adonis won't come get in bed like he always has. He goes under the bed, and waits till both me and Venus are asleep to get in bed. I don't know if its cause when he comes to bed, Venus wants to play, instead of give goodnight kisses or what. I know Adonis and I had a routine for years. And that last few minutes before I turned the lights out was qualilty time for goodnight kisses. This started going on about a week ago, him going under the bed, instead of on the bed. I'll get him to come out, and try to put him on the bed with us, and he'll hop back off as soon as Venus starts her playing, and go right back under the bed! Is this a phase or what? I feel he has his feelings hurt, or thinks he's no longer #1. After both Venus and I fall asleep, I know he sneaks quietly on the bed, and finds his old spot by my feet. I've caught him doing that a few times. Venus will try to hog all my attention, if she can. I do as much as I can to show both of them I do have 2 hands, and can love both of them at the same time. Any ideas or thoughts on this? I'm sure open for ideas to correct this and get my #1 furchild back in the bed instead of under it at night. I miss him being with me when I fall asleep.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. He probably likes under the bed because it is "den-like" and dark and quiet. If Venus is wanting to play when yall get in the bed and if Adonis doesn't want to play, then he may be retreating under the bed for some peace and quiet. I wouldn't worry about it. If he likes it under the bed and he is content there, then let him stay there until he's ready to come out.

Yea, but it really breaks my heart he no longer goes to bed with me. I'm so used to our "quality" time right before going to sleep.

| My Jewels always starts oout sleeping on a chair in our bedroom and then later in the night moves over to our bed. These little ones develop their own routine

I've found a way for Adonis to get the "undivided attention" he's so used to for the 5 years before Venus arrived. When Venus gets settled and falls asleep, I hang my arm off the bed, and he comes straight to my hand for the attention now. Then he knows Venus is asleep, and safe to come up on the bed. The 5 minutes after we got in bed, was part of our "routine" for quality time together for 5 years. My 9 month old, Venus, is very posessive of me, she can't stand for Adonis to get any attention at all. She wants to be the only one getting attention! This seems to me like having children! I have tried using one hand for each dog giving attention, and she goes to the hand thats petting Adonis, leaving the hand thats petting her for nobody! She seems to be very posessive of my attention, but we're finding a way around this now.
