| Trouble Sleeping my 8-month old has trouble sleeping through the night. She did fine the first few weeks I got her then she started crying and whining in the middle of the night. First it was early in the morning at around 5 a.m., then it got earlier at 3 a.m. and eventually at around 1 a.m. Her ex-pen is in our bathroom and she can see us from her bed. We moved her to the bathroom outside a couple of weeks ago. She would whine and cry and she has now started barking excessively. We don't know what to do.. any suggestions? Thanks. |

| Sounds like separation anxiety because of you moving the dog away from it's vantage point in your bathroom. Now that he can't see you, he's anxious. Have you thought about using some sort of sedation for a few nights to get him out of the habit. We recently decided we could not sleep with our furbaby in bed, since she is getting heavier and wants to sleep on our feet. So we started putting her in her crate at night in our bedroom. But the first few nights, we used Rescue Remedy (herbal calming drops) to make her more relaxed about the change. After a few nights we stopped using it, and she is doing fine without it so far. |

| My guys sleep with us, but they have gotten in the habit of getting up to go to the bathroom about 3:00-4:00AM. They both used to sleep through the night, with no accidents, even when they were little. They go right back to bed and sleep till we get up, but I don't like this middle of the night bathroom break - oh well, guess it could be worse!
