| Yorkie Names I'm curious to know how you came up with the idea for your Yorkie's name. I named my Yorkie "Otis" because I loved Beverly Cleary books as a kid, and one of my favorite characters was Otis Spofford. |

| Yorkie name Our work is hectic and requires that we be in different parts of the country for 3 months to 2-3 years so we decided to name her Toto because we relocate so frequently that I am constantly telling my husband "Toto, you're not in Kansas anymore!" [AKC: Tyava's Out Of Oz, Toto] ... and she just looks like her name should be Toto! She is very small [3 lb] and is the best little traveler although she travels with more "stuff" than we do!! |

| Heheheh. We actually pre-named him Yoda a month or two before we got him. We were sure we wanted a Yorkie, but we actually were planning on getting a little girl. So at the breeder's, we registered his name and took him home. For the first few weeks, we really weren't sure if we named him right. But after the first month, he's the perfect "Yoda," from Star Wars of course. We always call Yoda the "old, wise man" too. And keeping with the Star Wars theme, when he was little, and all black and all fur, we called him our "little Ewok." Last edited by admin; 03-27-2004 at 11:51 AM. |

| I got Neesa just by looking at her. No real meaning or anything, perhaps I was thinking about Mona Lisa really fast and just shortened it to Neesa. |

| Our new baby arrives saturday Saturday the 27th we will be picking up our new Yorkie-poo. He has been temporarily dubbed Spencer. At the moment he is all black with a little reddish brown around the paws and under his little head. He is the smallest of the litter. Any suggestions from you very creative yorkie owners? What do you think of Spencer? We have a cat - Simon and a Border Collie/Jack Russel mix named Princess. I originally was going to name him something like Spike or Butch just for the irony when someone met him. Any help? |

| Spencer sounds great, maybe wait until you have had him a little while to name him? Congrats, Harvestwidow, and welcome to our Yorkie community! |

| Ellie Mae just sort of came to me one day when I was thinking about names. Although everyone things its because of the old tv show "The Beverley Hillbillies". Destiny got her name because we truely felt it was destiny that we got her. Our breeder had two good friends fighting over her and she decided to just remove herself from all that drama and called me about her and even though we didn't have the money she allowed us to make monthly payments for her. That blew me away she would do that. She's an awesome lady. Shiloh got his name when I was coming home with him. We had a hour drive back to our place and a Niel Diamond song came on the radio. "Shiloh when I was young, I use to call your name", I just loved it and thought it fit him perfectly. |

| My husband wanted something to do with comic books and I wasn't into naming him superman or anything. I always just liked the name logan and it worked for my husband because it's the human name of the wolverine in the X-men series. Which worked for me because he was my favorite character because hugh jackman is so hot. Plus the wolverine is the perfect mix of nice guy with a bada** side and that fits our little guy to a tee.

| Its funny how i always seem to put faces to a name, we were looking for a yorkie girl, and had a few names in mind, to me Chelsey was a pretty name that needed a pretty face, when i saw this tiny pick of the litter pup, i knew it was a Chelsey Chanel was our mothersday & fathersday gift to each other, we were married for one year when we got her, on my wedding day i used Coco Chanel products, thats how we named our baby Chanel

| Junebug, my Chizziewink was named after a Children's Book character. Two years ago one of the Georgia Book Award nonimees was the Chizzywink and the Alamagoozlem and I fell in love with the sound of the word Chizzywink. And when I found out that Chizzywink was another name for mosquito, it seemed so appropriate to name a little ankle biter Chizzywink -- her daddy's name had Yahoo in it and her mom had Bell and since I am a computer nut we wound up with CHIZZIEWINK ATYAHOODOTBELL LOL -- I can get silly at times -- what can I say, I named a mini horse Earlene |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | When I was little my dad ALWAYS called me Lil Mis Magic and so when I went to go pick up Magic is was only appropriate to name her after that and she fits it to a tee...she is so much like it is scary at times....so when we got Sailor, we had a hard time trying to come up with something that would go together...well, Lil Mis Magic is a Jimmy Buffet song and so we decided to go for another song...so out came Sailor and she has been a joy!! I love hearing how all the yorkies names come to being...we each have our own story!!

| You know that is why I am so afraid to nail down a name. I'm afraid later I will find the perfect name and it will be too late. I love being creative and a little different. Is it OK for the puppy just to be the puppy for a while as we get to know him so we can name him appropriately? |
