| Any advice w/ cats? I have 3 cats, and I've had Ryder for about 6 weeks now. He just is always jumping at them, and they are constantly running from him. I'm not quite sure of how to make it easier on them, and so he isn't always lunging for them. Any ideas? |

| Same thing at our house. Hailee is about 3 1/2 lbs and terrorizes both of my cats. One of my cats is pretty mean and weighs about 17lbs. and he just runs from her.

| 2 cats here - the big one,16.5 lbs, tolerates Roxy so long then swats a few times (no claws, so no harm done), hisses and goes on his way. The smaller cat, 9 lbs, actually teases Roxy and plays with her. They will wrestle and chase each other around the house all the time. They will all give each other kisses and baths. Sometimes, the big one will play chase when the other 2 are at it and it sounds like a train going thru the house, lol. THey will all sleep with me and share each others' beds.

| I have four cats. Gracie loves to pick on the littlest one, probably because he is the closest in size to her and does not know how to be aggressive. I learned quickly that when the cats tire of the pup, cats learn to "live up". As long as they have all fours planted on the floor and not the kitchen counter, they are just fine!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Cats can be tough We have two cats. Tigger, who will be 15, tolerated our first Yorkie only because I think he had enough sense to be afraid of the cat. And I think Tigger never messed with him because the Yorkie was here when he arrived. When we got our second Yorkie after the first died, it was bedlam. Tigger hated Ozzie from Day One. We have had to keep them apart -- or suffer the consequences. About four years ago, Ozzie made the mistake of padding after me into the family room (Tigger is Lord of the Lower Level) and before I could react, Tigger had attacked him and they were in a ball on the floor. I really had to smack Tigger to get him to release. Poor Ozzie's ear was nearly shredded and he had a huge scratch down the bridge of his nose. Over the next few days, I found all kinds of sores along his body where Tigger had just sunk in all of his claws. Last summer, we took in a stray kitten, Toby. He started attacking Ozzie almost immediately. Poor Ozzie is just such a sweetie. All he wants to do is play. He barks at him occasionally, but he has never made an attempt to harm him. Oz is a little scared of the kitten (who is now bigger than him) but we have slowly tried to socialize them. Ozzie is very jealous when I hold the kitten but overall he has adjusted well. What's funny is that if one of them settles down, the other tries to "rush" the other one. But no violence to date. We hope eventually, they might even play together. All of that said -- introduce them slowly. Watch them like hawks. If you can hold and pet both at the same time, do that, all the while gently urging them to check one another out. But don't force the issue or someone may end up bloody! |

| We have a very benevolent cat, bless his heart. Mia attacks him all the time and he never shows his claws. Sometimes he chases her back, sometimes they play very well together, but other times Mia is just being aggressive. I would suggest starting obedience training with your dog as soon as possible. Dogs respond to training even when they are around 8 weeks old. Currently Mia and I are working on "leave it." Actually I was complaining about Mia's behavior and some members posted very helpful info. Let me try to find that thread. Okay, here it is: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ighlight=leave Good luck.
