| Can someone look at these pics of newborns and tell me...... Hi ! I am new here to yorkietalk and I am getting a yorkie/chihuahua mix puppy and was wondering if someone could let me know which one you think looks more yorkie? There are two boys and one little girl. The boys are like a brown and tan or black and tan and the little girl is a red color with black down her back. I really have always wanted a little girl yorkie. I just wonder if the little girl will have the yorkie hair? Please let me know what you think. Mary Lowe |

| Congrats on getting a new pup. I think it may be a little too early to predict how the puppies will turn out since they are mixes. They all look adorable though. Good luck with your decision.

| It's hard to tell... I don't know if the one with the white on it's chest means anything.... (like it may look like a yorkie).... As the others have said... I think you have to wait until they are a bit older to tell.... They are real cuties... Good luck with whichever one you choose!

| Don't know if this helps or not, but here are pictures of my yorkie pups at 1 week old. I agree it is probably too early to tell. |

| You will need to wait on the hair growth (6-8 weeks) to see if they will have long hair. Since they are a mix with chi they all may have short hair and never grow long. If it was a long hair chi you might have a chance. T. |

| in breeding Chi's it doesnt matter whether youve breed a long to short coated (or the opposite) nor the color you've breed to. They will yield both long and short coat and colors can vary in each litter (example if youve bred a parti to a red, they can give you a mixed colored litter)...so it would be very difficult to tell bred with a yorkie for quite sometime. But it would be my opinion your little girl takes after the brindle coloring in a Chi. all the best and congrats on your litter

| right! What I was trying to say is that you will not know if these particular pups or even if each one will have the long or short hair until they are older. Chances are some may have the long and others short coat. When I worked as a vet tech - I had even seen with one mix litter (long and short breed bred together) - one pup that had long hair in front and short terrier hair in the rear. Funniest thing you ever saw. I felt so sorry for him. You just do not know what you will get until they are older. I do not think this is her litter - she is just shopping. T. |

| My yorkie chi is now 10 weeks old, and her hair is about 1/2 inch long. It's kind of thin, but it is there. Her coloring is nothing like a yorkie, though, but she's lovely just the same. I think you may have to wait before you can tell, though, because she was just as "bald" as the others when she was born, from the pics of her that I have seen. The bad thing was is out of the three pups, she is still the only one that has very much hair. The other two are still very short haired, more like a chi. Hope this helps.... |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I don't know if this will help you or not but I bred my short hair cream chi, to a long hair Blue Merle Chi and she produced a cream, a black and tan, a Chocolate Merle, and a Chocolate. All Short coats. With Chi's you just never know what your going to get Quote:
