| Kennel name??? How did you pick one????? I was wondering when and how you choose your kennel name, if you have one........Not sure when breeders do that....before they have puppies? Or after.....what is you don't want to have puppies????? This is all so confusing to me..... |

| Some pick their's with something special that happened in their lives, a saying, a combination of names....I picked mine with letters from my name, and my 2 good friend's names. Once you've picked it do a google search to make sure no one else is using it.

| I did it once I'd started breeding. I made an anagram from the letters in my own name & those in the breed name, a different breed to yorkies back then. In the UK the Kennel Club won't let you have it if someone else has registered the name. |

| you also cannot register your kennel name with AKC unless you are showing or participate in other AKC events. There is a page included with the application for you to list these things. I called them last week about mine and told them that I am just a small hobby breeder and have no plans to show but other people are putting my dogs in the show ring. They suggested to me that since I cannot register my kennel name, to do the new full litter registration on my puppies from now on. that gives me control over if my name is used or not. i get the individual registration papers then the new buyer only transfers it with the name I have put on it. A lot of people just write their kennel name in the blocks where you name the dog and have even signed where they give permission for you to use their "kennel" name. all you have to do is white that out if they are not a registered kennel and you haven't signed a contract. this camee directly from AKC to me. i was on the phone for awhilee with them checking on this and checking to see if a certain kennel name was registered. so, you can still get your kennel name out there. |
