| is my baby a flea farm??? i have been noticing on bella lately that she has these little black specs all over her. i give her a bath either once a week or once every two weeks. i thought at first it was dirt, but now i wonder how that could be with her getting bathed soo much.....is it possible these black specs have something to do with fleas?? like maybe flea eggs or something? i dont mean to sound stupid, i just am worried. she is on frontline plus, but recently i saw a flea on her, and somehow managed to grab and kill it. i may just be freaking out, but she has been itching so horribly lately i am starting to really worry.....thanks in advance everyone!!

YT 3000 Club Member | The black stuff could be flea dirt, I run a flea comb through chester every nite I hate those creepy things, fleas also do not like eucalyptus I get some of that and dap a small amout on him not for cats though. I vacum alot and wash the bedding where ever the dog is the most, and get rid of the bag after, they say they can jump out of the bag. I have read you can put soap like dawn and water by a light at nite and the fleas go towards the light and cannot get out. |

| Try putting some of the black specks on a piece of white tissue & wetting them. If they go red then they are flea faeces. It's because of the blood they are sucking being passed out. Frontline works by being a contraceptive for fleas to prevent them multiplying, rather than killing them outright. So any new ones they pick up outside the house will still be live. Mine sometimes bring them in from the grass in the garden if there have been hedgehogs around. |

| Joy - what kind of shampoo are you using on her. The Shea Pet shampoo, conditioner and herbal moisturizing treatment all have essential oils in them that help to repel fleas. If you are still having a problem with fleas even after using Frontline Plus, maybe try adding these products. I bathe one a week and use the moiturizing treatment daily when I comb out in-between baths. Hope this helps. P.S. I got the products from Sassypup.net Jennie ships really fast and these products will last a long time!!

| This last November I was brushing out Dennis and I noticed all these black specks and what looked like semi circle round worm like things when I inspected them with my Jewelers loop. Of course I freaked and immediately called the Vet and they told me to come down with what I had. At any rate it was just flea dirt, which was unbelievable because neither had been out, other than to the Vet, which is where I suspect Dennis got them. They gave me Advantage which immediately killed what was on them and I was supposed to give another dose the next month which I did not do-IDIOT! Noticed just yesterday that Sahara was scratching again so I looked at her little belly and saw just one big black one so I treated them both immediately! What is puzzling me is I think there was only one because the first time I treated them you could actually see them just fall off onto the towel and there were quite a few, this time it was just that one big one! Plus Dennis was not scratching and it was only Sahara! She is still scratching, which is making me unhappy here, I hope this stuff is still working. |

| yep its flea stuff. You really should use frontline, revolution or some other monthly topical. Do not bath 48hrs before or after using or it will not work, there has to be body oil & ample time for it to mix with. I use revolution because it takes care of fleas (eggs, larvae, etc) Heartworms, earmites, prevents/treats sarcoptic mange & more. I get it here & never have any flea problems DEADFLEAZ. Shipping is reasonable & pretty fast, but best of all its dirt cheap compared to what vets charge. Prevention is the key. Once they get one flea they can get tape worm & if they drink some some standing water outside they can get heartworms. I hope that helps. |
