| Hates being on his back Does anyone else have a Yorkie who HATES being on their back? I try to hold Ferdinand like a baby sometimes and he flips out, flailing his legs all around and wiggling until he turns back over.

| Yes, Wrigley hated to be on her back! When she was in puppy kindergarten, the trainer said it was very important to spend time every day putting her on her back. She said massage her feet when she's on her back and get her used to it. She's 7 1/2 months old now and she's getting much better with it! Patience and practice it every day! |

| Muffin has always let me hold her like a baby on her back, but if my husband tries to do it she freaks out. She'll wiggle & squirm til she's completely out of his arms. I don't know if it's because I started doing it right away when we got her or not, but I'm the only one who gets away with it! CJ

| Yogi will not let me hold him like a baby on his back...but he will lay on his back on the bed or couch. He will go nuts too if I try and pick him up like a baby..don't know why..

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I think a reason some dogs don't like being held/staying on their back is because rolling over onto their back is a sign of submission in dog-language. Maddie loves being held like a baby. Tucker on the other hand....ha.

| The ones that wont go on their backs when being held is showing more of the alpha, and should be made to know who really is the alpha. |

| Our trainer also said to hold her on her back. She hated it at first and would try to get out. She now loves being held like a baby. That's how I brush her hair and teeth. |

| There is no way to get Toto on his back. He won't even lay on his back in bed or on my lap or anywhere. The only way he gets a belly rub is when he is on his side. It totaly scares his to death to try to roll him over. Also he is so strong that I can't roll the little booger over.

| My trainer told me if they won't let you hold them on there backs, its because they are over you, that you should hold them that way till they quit fighting it, so they know your the alpha...

| My Jen is the same, I can not get her to lay on her back at all! She fights and fights. I'm going to start doing it every day. Gosh I hope it works since it makes it so difficult to groom her chest and inside her legs.

| The only way Roxy will lay on her back is she does it herself for a tummy rub. No way will she let me turn her over.

| Lucy will let me hold her in my arms like a baby all night, Abbie hates it and if I insist, she'll turn her head away so she doesn't have to look at me while I hold her on her back.
