| Need advice (again) Max has really improved in the past week or so thanks to the support and good, solid advice I got from YTers. He was paper trained for pee and then went into puberty, starting marking all over the house and peed EVERYWHERE. I got him neutered and he has stopped marking, but needed to be retrained to pee on the paper. I wasn't going to worry about poop at this point. Through various people's advice, I have had him on a leash, supervised or crated 24/7. He now pees in the morning on his paper, sometime during the early afternoon and I take him out at take 6 PM where he has learned to pee outside. He's even pooping on the paper for the past several days. I was advised that it had become a dominance issue more than anything else, and I can see how true that was. I need advice now as to a good schedule. He has always been able to hold it for 7-8 hours. When I was working he would wait that long until I came home although he had access to paper. He's now going 3 times a day, but I'd like him to go again before bed because the last time he usually pees is at around 6 PM. He can hold it all night, but I'd rather he didn't wait that long. The vet said it's okay, but it would be better to have him go later. I filled him up with water (about 4 ounces right after he peed last evening) and he still wouldn't go before bed. Any advice? Thanks, Judy |
