When do you stop treating them like puppies? I know that I will ALWAYS treat Adie like a puppy but when do I stop using puppy shampoo and puppy food. I read one person said to put them on adult food at 9 months and others say a year. I don't know that anyone has commented on the shampoo.

| My vet said to keep them on puppy food untill they were a year old. I started using Chris Christensen shampoo when they were 6 months. Now I use Biogroom

Personally I'd put them on real food. Anyway their internal organs aren't fully developed until they are 18 months old. Shampoo doesn't matter. Just use something very gentle that doesn't strip the natural oils.

What do you mean by "real food"? Are you talking about raw meat and veggies? I have often wondered if that would be better for all three of my dogs. They all get raw hamburger on Sundays but we keep them on their own personal dog food the rest of the time.

I use Johnson & Johnson no more tangles people (baby) shampoo on my boys! My vet recommended it and so did the groomer I go to. Its gentle on their skin and it does help with keeping mats at bay!

My vet recommended keeping Tia on puppy food until she hits the one year mark. As for shampoo...i'm going to keep using no-tears formula until I at least finish the bottle. I don't see why it would make a difference....as long as it works well (she's not a show dog). As for love and attention...always! She's my baby!

Most of the online sources as well as AKC guide to growing healthy dogs say that puppies are to be fed three times a day until they are 6 months old, after which time they should be fed twice. At the same time, some posters said that their vets recommended them feeding their puppies puppy formulas until they are a year old. So, I suppose the timing of their growth changes depending on the activity. It is probably similar to human babies. They get to experienc sertain adult things earlier than the others.

My trainer told me to feed him 3x/day until 10 months and then go to grown-up food 2x/day, but I think I'll keep him on puppy food until he's a year old. It can't hurt and he tends to have a delicate stomach. I use oatmeal shampoo because the vet told me that his skin is dry, so that won't change. Judy

| I'm only going to answer the thread title too! EVERYDAY, when I come home, the first words out of my mouth to the "greeting committee" is, "how are moma's baby boyz?" Does that answer your question??? Oh yeah, they are one and two years old!

LOL I guess my titles are going to have to match my posts more closely in the future. Adie (9months old) stopped eating three times a day quite a while ago, she just stopped eating the middle meal so we figured it was time for her to go to twice a day. She gets puppy crunch for breakfast and soft food for dinner. It is a struggle to get her to eat either time but she shows a lot of attention to what our adult dogs are eating. All three started on Missing Link about a month ago. I have recently found out that ground beef isn't a very good way to give them raw meat (fat content) so this weekend I bought stew meat for them and they gobbled it up. Adie finished off hers before the other two were even 1/2 through. I know she is going to eat adult food better than she is eating her puppy food but it is anyone's guess how long she will put up with what we are giving her. We have tried different brads and Pro Plan is the only thing she didn't turn her nose up at. It seems like the more expensive it is the less she likes it. I'll try to keep her on it for another three months and keep adding raw meat on Sundays. What are your opinions on that? Thanks for the advice. L

What does your vet say? My trainer said 10 months is old enough for adult food. It's hard when there are other dogs and she can smell their food. Maybe you can very slowly mix the two together and drag it out for another month or 2. Judy
