| Going to purchase my Yorkie on Monday... Please help me out I am getting my girlfriend a Yorkie on Monday for Valentines day. I found a private breeder who sells the dogs out of his home. These dogs are bred in Ireland and brought over to the US. On Monday he will be recieveing 14 pups, at around 10 weeks old each. I want to go down there and pick one out, probably a female. I was hoping you guys/ladies with more knowledge can take a look at his website and let me know if everything sounds legitimate. All of the puppies have their first shots, vet. certificates and are UKC registered. My girlfriend told him she wanted one that wouldnt exceed 6lbs, due to the rules and regulations of her apartment building. He told her a dog of that size would cost around 900$-1000$. Just want to see what you guys think about everything and the price. Please respons asap. |

| this person on that website you gave is a broker not a breeder. A broker buys puppies wholesale (very cheap) from a breeder (puppy mill). The breeder (puppy mill) ships the puppies (many times in unhealthy conditions) to the broker who then turns around and sells you the puppy charging you way too much money for a puppy that will probably not be good quality (close to the breed standard). Unless you see the puppy's parents you won't know what your puppy will look like or how big he'll be despite what the broker tells you because the broker will tell you what you want to hear just to make a sale. Buyer beware!!! Do some research on finding a good breeder then check out www.ytca.org for breeder referrals in your area. That should be a good start. I don't know how far you want to drive but there is a good breeder in PA that has beautiful yorkies and she's a member here. Check out her site: www.sylvanyorkies.com. Good Luck!

| Id steer clear of them..go find a breeder where you can see the parents. With these pups you just dont know how big they will be...the parents could be 10 pound yorkies for all you know...good luck in your search and it might be frustrating at first..but well worth it in the end!! Dawn |

| Here is a site you can find breeders, Some good, some bad I'm sure Yorkies Also Puppyfind is a good place to search its $5.99 to look around, I found my girl on there, it was a few hr drive but worth it to see her parents, where she came from, etc. There is a forsale/wanted section here also. We have all been there searching... thinking we found the one then not.... pulling our hair out in frustration. Good Luck, dont rush if you dont find what you are looking for by valentines day get her a promise carrier lol you know like a promise ring, man the world really has really gone to the dogs. I would rather have a yorkie then a ring too, then again I'm already married so I'm smarter now JK |

| I agree with Kaymo's suggestions! This is a deal to avoid. Post a "wanted ad" here and I bet there are some great puppies for sale that you can see the parents. All puppies look adorable -- you need to see the parents and even better some of previous litters matured puppies. Know who bred the dogs, see where they were bred and raised. Know what conditions you are getting your puppy from. Ask yourself why someone would want to breed all their dogs in one country, and ship tiny babies all that way to sell? Occasionally a person will import a dog from another country with the best of origins -- but 14 at once -- that's a puppy mill.

| I would make sure that the breeder made Bile acids test for the male and femahe before he bred them and that he did as well a blood wellness test for both to rule major problems like kidney diseases . |

Size cannot be guaranteed, they can tell you anything. If there is a problem with your puppy you would have no recourse as you are dealing through a third party. I have heard of a breeder in Ireland selling in this manner and is not someone I would recommend. 14 puppies is mass breeding, ie puppymill. You have no clue about the parents, what they might look like, any health issues would be a mystery to these people, you have no way of knowing how these puppies were raised. Find a local reputable breeder that you can visit and deal with directly. | |

| Welcome to YT How very sweet of you to purchase a puppy for your girlfriend for Valentine's Day! Unfortunately, you may be giving her a broken heart if you purchase from the broker. Please for both yours and the puppy's sake, find a responsible breeder within traveling distance so that you may visit, see the parents, and ask lots of questions. Be sure to get a guarantee and buy from a person that will be willing to help you with any puppy issues. Be sure they are akc registered and if they are a YT member, you should be able to get references that you may contact. Post an ad in the wanted section and then choose from among the reputable breeders that have puppies available. Hope to hear more from you. |
