| Road Trip for 12 week old puppy? I might be over-anxious, but I'd rather be safe than sorry... My boyfriend flies in from California on Sunday. We're picking up Izzie from the breeder on Monday (which is about an hour away.) My boyfriend is flying back to California next Friday. I'm driving him back to the Kansas City airport from Salina (which is about 2 1/2 hours one way.) Normally, I will never be gone this long at one time. Do I risk taking Izzie with us? Or should I just leave her at home since she will just be getting acclimated to her surroundings? My roommate will be leaving to go to work around 5:00 p.m. So, Izzie would be alone from about 5-10:30, depending on which one of us gets home first. Will she be okay for this long? I just feel bad leaving her alone for so long by herself right away. At the same time, I'm worried that a road trip like that might stress her out. I know that I won't really know how she reacts until she gets here...but I want to be as prepared as possible. Thanks for your help!

| That doesn't seem like a very long trip to me. As long as you keep her in a kennel, stop for potty/pet breaks, I would think she'd be fine. At that age, she'll probably sleep the whole way! |

| If you decide to leave Izzie... I would just make sure that he eats well first... little puppies have a tendency to become hypoglycemic (sp)... if you have some nutri-cal that would be a good idea to give him. However.... if it were me...I'd take him... I agree that he would probably sleep most of the way. My Daisy travels with me alot and has since she was about 11-12 wks old...both on flights and in the car and she does sleep most of the time. Your fur-parent instinct will tell ya what to do... good luck with whatever you decide. |

| I'd take her with me. You'll worry like crazy and you'll like the company on your trip back, even if she is in a kennel. When we brought Bailey home at 13 weeks, we lived a 10 hour drive from the breeder. We stoped for pee, water and food breaks and she was just fine! Good luck with your trip!

| I would definitely take Izzie with me. You will be going through a very important bonding period with her and I, personally, don't think it would be a good idea to leave her. When we brought our Toto home on a Wednesday, we left on Saturday and drove from AL to Texas to pick up our RV from the factory and went from there down to the coast ... through LA, FL, etc. and when we finally got back home we had put about 2500 miles on little Toto!! She is a great little traveller! Congratulations and good luck!

| I would take her with you, they are much more comfortable and happy just to be held and loved then left and alone. I have always taken mine everywhere from the moment I got them without any problems. Just bring water, food, and maybe some nutrical. |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | I agree that you should take the puppy with you on the trip. Don't forget to bring chew toys too. |
