| Help - I need some advice! My baby is about to turn 1 year old this month. I've been seriously thinking about adding to the family - mostly because Riley is home alone all day while I'm at work. He has my undivided attention once I'm home and on weekends, but I worry that he is lonely during the day. He loves other dogs and I'm torn as to whether I should get another puppy or not. Can any of you share with me your experiences, pro or con? I'd really appreciate it! Riley's Mom

| I'm certain yours would love the company. You should be able to know this by taking him around other small pups. Does he like to play with them? Is he social with them? Yorkies don't like being alone. You are right on that one.

| Thanks, Karen (I'm Karen too!) - Riley loves other dogs. He is very fond of my friend's chihauhau - very gentle with her. Have you ever introduced a new additional puppy into your family? Should I stay with the same breed? I hope so because I adore Yorkies....

| I have three and I wouldn't have it any other way I am a stay at home mom... but when we are out I never feel guilty because they have each other to love while we are away. I think you will be hard pressed to find someone on this site that will talk you out of another yorkie!!!

| I always think it is better to have two. Two of the puppies I had went to homes where the owners had another Yorkie. Just take your time to find just the right one. Looking at temperament, size at adult and also realize that there will be an adjusment period. When we got our second Yorkie it took about three weeks before the puppy was completely accepted.

| Go for it! Recently we decided to add another yorkie to our house. I researched and talked it over with dh and we decided we wanted a male who was somewhere between 1-3 years old. (That way he'd be close in age to Ginger, and we wouldn't be starting with a puppy). We found Bernie (he was at a yorkie rescue nearby) and brought him home a week later. It has been the best thing ever! He and Ginger are best buds already. She plays with him all the time. They are together when I'm gone. There have been some minor adjustments, and she DID pout for the first day or so, but...it's been great!!!
