| How much water should she drink? I have a 4 1/2 mth puppy. She LOVES to drink water, and as a result, pees quite a bit as well. Should I be concerned? Diabetes/kidneys, etc? I am taking her to a puppy class and the trainer said that I will have a hard time housebreaking her if i don't control her water intake, that she is stretching out her bladder, drinking out of boredom, dogs don't need that much water, etc. I don't know if I agree, I want her to have the freedom to eat and drink as she likes, but I also would like to housetrain her sometime in the future! She drinks about a cup of water a day (at max) and is a little over 4 lbs. I am having a bit of trouble with housebreaking by the way-- she actually peed right next to me when she had been sitting on my lap last night, but I blame myself cause I put her on my lap after she had been asleep. Thank goodness my hubby was away, he has much less patience than me-- she is just a baby right now! Thanks for the help-- this forum is a godsend for me! Erin (and Fiona) |
