| Medicine BAYTRIL!!! Hey guys....I took Mia into the Vet this weekend for some spots she had on her skin. The Vet said it was a bacteria infection and gave me an antibiotic called BAYTRIL. I think it is making Mia sick and she is vomiting after she takes it. I am not using it anymore until I talk to the Vet but does anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

| I think it is a good idea that you quit giving it to her and talk to your vet. I did a search and there is some information here. http://www.vetinfo.com/deffect.html#Baytril Hope she feels better soon. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | My cocker Tessa has taken Baytril for years for her ears with no problems - but she's bigger than a yorkie....you may want to ask the vet to change the antibiotic and also - check your dosage - are you giving the right amount ? Since she's so little - maybe they do need to try something else for her - there are other antibiotics out there he can prescribe |

| The first time Yogi took it, (and he is 5 1/2 lbs) the dose he was given was too high and when I broke it down and gave him the 6mg that was correct for him, he did better. He was vomiting also and had diarrhea....now, the diarrhea changed to just a very loose stool which was annoying, but he did stop vomiting.. I hope you can find one that she tolerates...

| Thanks so much you guys. I just looked but can not see what the dosage amount is. It says to give her 1/2 of a tab which I was doing but you all might be right. I read a little on it and it does seem like it is one of the stronger antibiotics. I have left a message for the Vet to call me first thing in the AM to see if we can get her on something else. I swear I think her hair is getting thinner now on her head where the sores are or were - like she is loosing hair or something. Poor baby girl!
