BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | Question for you if you have 2... Every morning when I'm getting ready for work, Lillie follows me everywhere, it's like she knows I have to leave. She watches me get dressed, she watches me brush my teeth and she watches me get my shoes on, and she just stares me down with the saddest eyes. I feel so bad when I leave and have to put her in her expen. I hold her in my arms like a baby and tell her how much I love her and I will be home real soon! She is only home alone 3 days out of the week, but I still hate it and feel so darn bad. So my question is... If she did have a playmate, would she still feel this way, or would she be happier if she had someone in her pen with her? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I think if you can afford it financially, emotionally and time wise then go for the second. I had Lex first but didn't worry much becuse he played with the cat when she saw fit to play. But I did recently get another baby (Lulu) so he could have real company. They have such a great time together and when we leave to go some place he doesn't whine or shadow me like he used to. I would suggest a second. Double the trouble but also double the fun and love. My friend bought Lulu's sister and he is now in the process of getting ready to get another so she can have company because he notices the same behaviour being exhibited in Bailey.

| im sure she would be happier with a playmate.. i wish i could get one for lexi, but i cant right now, its hard enough with her and being single... if you could do it, then you should, you wont as guilty as you do leaving her now...

| I got Mimi for the same reason and now they both whine when I leave them in the morning. I guess they just hate to be home alone. I do love having 2 and adding a 3rd soon Then I'll have 3 whiners!! |

| huh, sadly I go through the exact same thing you do +she starts to tremble when she knows it's time for me to leave. She has the 'you aren't going to leave me look' it's terribly sad and breaks my heart too. I could imagine two to change that quite a lot. |

Oh wow, I thought it was only my two that barked at me when I put my shoes on. They usually can sense when I'm leaving and they get upset.. but I got Theresa a month after Teddy because I hated him being alone. Plus, I make a commute to SF every morning to go to school.. and on my breaks I would drive all the way back home to see him. Not only was that not cost effective it only made him want me more. Getting Theresa was a good thing, they play and fight, and snuggle up together when they are bored. But it gives me A GREAT PEACE OF MIND knowing he's not lonely.

| Well, I'm no expert, but here's my experience: In just a short time since we brought Bernie home, Bernie and Ginger have become "attached at the hip"! Ginger has always been a good girl, and never fussed when I left, but BERNIE just about has a heart attack. For the first couple of weeks, they were seperated (til I was sure how everyone was getting along) But I just started gating them all (I also have a 15 year old mix) in the kitchen when I leave, and I think they are ALL happier. Bernie's even reduced his fussing to a low whine! Other benefits: The two of them play all the time. Now when I'm doing work, cooking dinner, or visiting YT, instead of Ginger sitting at my feet fussing for me to play or snuggle, she and Bernie are at my feet rolling around or napping together. It was the best decision I ever made. BTW, I think the fact that they are close in age is the ticket (she's two, he's one). We've always had two dogs, but there's always been a huge discrepancy in their ages. These two are just peas in a pod!

| I dont know if having two will stop lillie From following you around everywhere. I have two and Jewels still follows me. They are more content when you leave them home when you have two. They have each other to play with

| I want to "Thank" the person who lst posted this question. And I also "Thank" everyone for their imput. My Rudy does the same thing when I have to leave for work. I finally convinced my husband, well let's just say he's going along with it, to get another dog. I think it will help Rudy a lot to have another dog there. I am looking into getting a shih tzu from a rescue in my area. Keeping my fingers crossed. Again, "Thanks" everyone. Rudys Mom (Dawn) |

| twice as nice yorkies I have two and they are great together....One is an adult rescue and the other was about 3 yrs when we put them together. They don't cry when I leave... just curl up and go to sleep. Consider getting a rescue from a yorkie rescue. You'll be saving a life. You might also want volunteer and foster a yorkie. You can always adopt him if it works out.. usually at a discount. Roxanne |

| Well, this is the reason why I have 2 now, so they can keep eachother company at all times and especially when I have to leave the house and leave them in their "room". However, I now have TWO pairs of sad eyes and puppy faces staring me down when I and my daughter are getting ready to leave out. However, on the other hand it is much better to know that at least they will have eachother's company while we are out instead of being all alone. So I say if you could afford it, do it for sure

| we got our 2nd one this Christmas. While I'm sure it will get better-be prepared for some sibling rivalry AND DONT GO FOR THE MOST OUTGOING PUPPY-I made this mistake and now the puppy dominates the other dog-she makes the older one miserable, chewing on her, biting at her and barking. We havent really got to bond w/the new puppy b/c she is just infatuated with my other yorkie. We'll see-but it has been a mess.... my other yorkie ws doing the same thing and I thought, well I'll just get a puppy for company. I STRONGLY suggest maybe a rescue or a little bit of an older dog -maybe it's just the puppy we have, but it seems so much harder trying to train AND acclimate the dogs. I think it's her personality too. She just has to be into everything and has to be #1. All of the yt'ers say they will eventually LOVE eachother, but be prepared for time to adjust good luck |

| The above replies have said it all, and i firmly believe yorkies do better in pairs most of the time. You will feel less guilty for leaving the house! |
