| Why all the different registrations???? What is the thing with all the different registrations? Can any of them be reregistered with AKC? I fell in love with a little female in the YT for sale but she was ACA. My husband said she must be AKC if you are going to breed her to our Little Max who is 4.5lbs and AKC. I dont even know if this little girl is still available and I dont have that kind of money for her and the trip to go get her (NO SHIPPING) and then the AKC later on. Why do they do this???? My Little Max is all boy and I want a little girl to dress up and maybe have some puppies someday. |

| AKC is the most reputable out of all the other registrations. If they are registered under another registry you cant register them AKC

| It is hard to find AKC at a decent price these days. Most have gotten put on the AKC suspension list because of bad breeding practices. AKC will come inspect a breeder if they refuse or if AKC comes to find that the dogs are not breeding quality or other issues they will give the owner a certain amount of time to recorrect, if they dont they are suspended & those pets/breeders AKC are no longer any good. All they're AKC papers have to match to the age, coloring of each dog. If a breeder looses a mother they might stick the papers with another girl they get that isnt registered or add pups from a non registered litter on to another litter to paper a couple more, which is all illegal. My fave is when you look at a website & 2 brothers are left in the litter so you check out the sires to see if you can figure out which is the dad & each looks like a different sire, you can tell they sired the pups with more then one male. I have had breeders admit that & I say you cant register the pups akc to 2 parents when 3-4 were involved. These are all reasons to loose your AKC license & the list goes on of things breeders do to try to make more money no matter what which causes them to loose their AKC & then have to find another place that will let you register anything for the right amount of money. It's got me seriously thinking about becoming a AKC Hobby pet breeder but when you are doing things right it takes alot of money, time & there can be alot of heart ache. I have been researching & am finding that some before work of disinfecting your yard, house & a health over haul on your dog. It will be quite expensive to try to insure healthy pups but no guarantees for mom or pups safety. I just keep researching & trying to see if its something I want to commit to. |

| Most have gotten put on the AKC suspension list because of bad breeding practices. That's a pretty broad statement, don't ya think? There are many more excellant AKC breeders than the few bad ones that are on the suspension list. |

| I guess I was just shocked by all these different reg. I have spent 35 years working in vet. background, worked for a few breeders, when it was only AKC (or so I thought) worked volunteer in shelters and adopting any Yorkie that was not wanted totaling about 25. Last year we lost our last 3 babies in less than a week(old age-natural causes) my hubby said "Enough is Enough, the pain of loss is to much anymore." He said "lets get a puppy and barrng complications he will live a long life with us. Then he wanted a little girl, but same age as Max and maybe someday have some grandpuppies(we have no children) So looking and thinking older dogs cheaper price, Not cheap, Lower price, I find all these strange registations, so I guess the three of us will just enjoy each other. |

| It's a multi million dollar business. JMO they are all money hungry and the only reason AKC is so "prestigous" is cause it has the most money. For the right amount of money you can have your non-AKC registered pet compete in AKC compeitions.

Well, I personally prefer AKC and my yorkies are AKC and my other dogs in the past have always been AKC. I like a certain look for my animals and I find that look generally comes from AKC breeders. Their breeders, in my opinion, are more reputable for the most part, of course with any registration you will have your bad breeders but at least with the AKC most of the breeders breed for the betterment of the breed and to be within the standard and as far as I know they get checked up on and can have their licenses revoked if they are not abiding by AKC standards and regulations. I don't you'd find a AKC breeder breeding a 3 pound female or 10 pound male.... Though I have seen and talked with breeders who are CKC who have 8-10 pound males they use as studs for their 13 pound females...and one breeder I talked to told me as soon as her little girl went into heat she was breeding her 3 pound female to her 2 pound male Boy did that get me mad!! I've not heard of any non-AKC registered pet competing in a competition. I'd be suprised to see a CKC or an ACA or any other type of registration besides AKC compete at an AKC competition. As far as I know the pup has to have AKC parents, if can be unregistered and you can register it with the AKC but only if it has AKC bloodlines. I don't think you can take a CKC dog and get it AKC registration and put it in an AKC dog show...that's why there are seperate competitions, ones for CKC and AKC and so on...because the standards are different. | |

| I agree, I am referring to those who have been akc but were suspended & now have to register else where because of that. I did not mean that most breeders of AKC dogs were bad breeders at all, just that people registering else where may be doing it for a reason. |

| It just seems they were suspended for some logic reason and they should NOT be able to make money by making up their own rules. They took on the task of AKC and the rules should be followed. If I ever find a girl(I dont want a puppy) she will be AKC, even if we plan on keeping the puppies. But. heaven forbid, what if something comes up where we have to sell them. They will be AKC and nothing else. I guess I am just old and set in my ways but they should not be able to just make something up to suit themselves because they couldnt follow the rules. These other registrations to me are like Puppymills out to make a buck. Sorry, if I affended anyone I dont want to start a fight, but it is just not fair. |
