| question on color of puppy Ok, I finally found a yorkie puppy that is now only 12 days old. My question is, her mother is really light colored, looks like blonde and silver. Her father is dark, gold with black. Do you know what color my puppy will end up looking? Is there a more dominant? I am just curious since the parents are both so different looking? |

| It could be light or dark like either of the parents. Both of mine look like their mom

| That's a hard call. I don't think anyone will be able to determine what color he will be. Their colors change up until some are 2 or more. Buddy is still changing and he will be three on Sat. He went from jet black/gold to light black/copper/ to silver/copper now and I hope this is it! Congratulations on the little one. Carol & Buddy |

| Well does anyone have a yorkie that is dark in color and one of the parents are light? I am hoping she will be a darker color but don't care what she'll end up being. |

| buttercup, in the nursery forum under "Introducing Buttercup" will retain her mother's dark colors, I THINK. I am her breeder. Her mother was black and gold to me but the vet and other breeders have said she is the dark blue and gold. certainly looks black to me tho. any how, ceeby is light. (Her daddy) |

| My first Yorkie stayed dark until she became much older...then she turned silver on her body. Her face turned light tan after about a year and stayed that way. The boy that I have now went silver on his body around 11 months. That's all I can tell you. I never knew the parents of either one though.

| I have a silver/tan female and a black/tan male. Their last liter was half and half. When two of them left at 14 weeks you could see some silver starting to show on their backs and on the other two, they were still all black and no silver on the backs. The ones with silver showing did have lighter colored roots appearing on their heads around 7 weeks of age and the pups that are staying black on the back have a darker grey and tan on their heads. My female was a lighter silver but seems to be darkening a little and she is almost 3 years old. Her roots are still changing. It seems like every half inch of new root growth is a different color than the rest of her coat.
