| 2 questions about car sickness and chew bones Isn't that a crazy combination. Here are my questions first on car sickness. I am leaving tomorrow for a trip to Florida (16 hours) it will take 2 days to get there, Sassy get's car sick so the vet said to give her Benedryl 1/4 of tablet. Has anyone given this to there dog? Will she be able to function like going to the bathroom and eating some while she is on it . Second question is about Nylabone's someone gave Sassy some for christmas and i haven't given them to her yet because i wasn't sure they were alright for her. It is called the puppy starter kit it says puppybone, healthy edibles bacon flavored, and durable chicken flavored. Let me no what you think Please |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes, Benedryl is used for allergies; it may make them sleepy, but shouldn't knock them out. Joey's dosage was 1/8 of a pill, he weighs 3 1/2 pounds and it made him very sleepy. The Nylabones that come in the kit have an age frame with each bone. The first puppybone is for light chewers and should not be given to an older puppy that is a strong chewer due to the fact that he might break some off and swallow it.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Wasn't the third bone in the package appropriate for 1 year olds? Nylabone makes all kinds of bones some are 100% digestible, others are 0% digestible and made of rubber. Just look on the package for size and age tips. I would give it her before trip to see how she reacts.

| I gave Reese liquid benedryl and I gave him 1ml on an infant med dropper when he had ant bites last summer. He relaxed and slept but was not drugged acting. He would get up when I moved him. Good idea to try it out before hand it certainly wouldnt hurt. That measurment is for 5lbs. |

| I've given Maggie the healthy edibles and she loves them. She chews, and eats, the ends of the bone right away and then leaves the middle portion to never be touched again!

| car sickness Hi, We drove from Michigan to Colorado 21 hours. I was afraid of the dogs getting sick, but they were fine. We walked them a lot at the rest stops. Also, we did not feed them when the car was in motion. Matter of fact, they didn't eat much at all. Mostly slept. Then we drove back home non stop. I did not medicate them at all. The vet said they could have a reaction to the medicine in the car, and I figured that would be worse. Good luck

| Ginger Snaps are a cookie and you can get them at any grocery store.

| I've given Mickey (who gets through a 4 inch bullystick in 30 min!) Healthy Edibles... He loved it, and they are digestable. No complaints here.

| My vet always gives Mugzy a 1/4 tsp benadryl before his shots to help ward off any potential reactions. ***Ginger snaps are the kind of cookie you get around Halloween. In this area they come in a dark orange box with black lettering and they're in the cookie aisle in the local grocery store. They cookies themselves are really hard - you almost really can't bite them with your front teeth, and they're round and dark brown |

| I read that you could give them a Pepto Bismol tablet about thirty minutes before the trip. Also heard about the Ginger Snaps..ginger soothes the stomach.
