| Allergies???? Please someone help!!!!Pics!!! My Tinkerbell has always been pretty healthy, I have worried about her coat being thin but I guess that is just the way she is meant to be. Well I recently changed her food from Eukanuba puppy food to Royal Canin Yorkshire terrier, now she seems to be soooooo itchy my poor baby, have any of your babies ever had allergic reaction to food??? How can I tell what it is I gave her a bath today and she's been scratching to the point of some "pink" showing in her skin She also has some red dots on under little eyes. She has what appears to be a new "patch" of hairs growing. Please help She had a soft stool today also What is going on???

| She sure could be allergic to the new food. Also, are you sure you got all the soap rinsed out of her coat today when you bathed her. That can also cause extreme itching and redness. Good luck!

| Well, if she has been on it 3-4 weeks, then it is less likely it is the food - BUT it could have taken this long for her to build up the allergins to the food - so it COULD be the food. Has she had on any new clothes that might have caused the allergy? Is she laying on a new blanket? Did you use new detergent to wash clothes or blankets? Did you use a new shampoo? I'm not sure - but something is causing irritation. You can give her liquid benadryl - I'm not sure of the dosage though, my mom gives it to her doxy - but she is already in bed and so I can't ask her.

| I can't think of anything new that she has been through except her food. She is used to wearing clothes, should I take her to the vet? I am not sure on giving her benadryl Is it safe for her?

| My Lexi has severe allergies and her first allergic reaction was to RC. It has corn in it and MANY dogs are allergic to corn. Also it can take anywhere from a couple days to a few months for food allergies. It will probably take a few months to get back to normal if you switch her food back. I could go on for hours about food allergies. My baby has been in and out of vets to the hospital. She has had 3 alleergy blood test done and 3 skin test. She now gets a shot once a week.

| Call your vet and get her in as soon as you can. They can give her a short-term anti-inflammatory shot to relieve her itchiness until you get her on a new food. Food allergies don't normally show for several weeks after switching foods, according to my vet, so I would guess the food to be the culprit. The vet may want to try a bland or prescription diet for awhile to see if that helps, and you can look up brands of food that are good for allergy-sufferers online. If you can narrow down what ingredient may've caused it, that'll help too. The corn is always a first suspect, but even chicken could cause it. So compare labels on her previous food and current food and see what's different. My baby suffers from environmental allergies, so we've been there done that with the food trials and itchiness. Oh, and Benadryl may help, but it may may not and make her extremely drowsy. I would recommend the vet first. We never had very good luck with antihistamines.

| She is really red and irritated, I mean I had noticed more than normal itching but today she was just out of control ........My poor angel, what about the bumps under her eyes? Is that something related to allergies??? Could that be related??? I thought RC was good for Yorkies since it says it is special for Yorkshires

| RC is very fatting and MANY small dogs are allergic to it because of the corn. As someone else mentioned she could be allergic to other things. The bumps under her eyes are allergy related. To help sooth her give her some Benadryl, and go get some aveno oatmeal bath. and let her soak in it. Aveno Tip Take 2 coffee filters and pour and sew or staple them into a pouch and pour the aveno into it and then finish sewing it closed. (kinda like a tea bag). Make a VERY hot bath and put the aveno pouch in it. By the time the water cools enough to put her in the oatmeal has spread with out the mess. If you put her in the bath without making a pouch the oatmeal will be a pain in the rump to get out of her hair. Ask your vet if she can an allergy shot to give her some relief. If the sores become open insist on a shot and antibiotics.
