I'm a Yorkie Mommy Novice Brandi is my first yorkie, she just turned 9 months on Jan. 12th.......she's (last visit to the vet) 4 lbs 9 ozs.....and she's a healthy happy puppy.......my problem is I'm over protective and paranoid to a degree....I bought her all these sweaters and winter coats....but I'm afraid to take her out in the "cold weather" (which really hasn't been all that cold here) I'm just afraid she's going to get sick Am I being ridiculous or just "a new mommy" I've had other dogs before......just none that have seemed as delicate.......

i've had other dogs too.. but big ones... with layla i am very protective.. who can hold her what she can eat.. where she can sniff... i think it is completely normal! i have found i've become less paranoid since i got her... she is about the same size as your baby... and the bigger she got the less worried i was.. however my mom still tells me i worry too much about her.. but she is my baby and i can't stnad the thought of something happening to her because i wasn't carefull enough... sounds like you love her like crazy... lucky little pup you have! let's see pictures!

Me too Hello I also have a little yorkie Harvey - he is a little bit smaller than yours he is 3.5 lb. I am also quite protective of him - i have had another yorkie in the past and was not as protective, but i think the reason is his size - he is so small. Harvey is the same age as yours - he is so adorable and cheeky, he gets into everything, and is always ready to play. He worries me though with the amount of food he eats, tiny bits, my other yorkie was bigger and had a good appetite. I take him out, as the weather is not too bad here at the moment - he wont go out if it is raining though!!!!! Take care Diane and Little Harvey

| Hiya! Welcome! I'm a little paranoid myself, having lost my Starr. It was my own carelessness that contributed to the chain of events that led to her death. So now these little girls I have now are watched like hawks. Overprotective, yeah, maybe a little. But if I was more vigilant with Starr, she'd probably still be here Anyway, while you can't be too careful, it's good to let them be dogs too As long as your baby is bundled up and not outside for hours at a time, enjoy yourselves!

I'm really sorry about your little Starr........I know you must miss her terribly.......accidents are just that.....not anyone's fault.......you can't be so hard on yourself....... I wouldn't have her outside for hours........I don't like being outside in the cold........but I know Brandi misses her walks.......and seeing all her friends outside......the minute she gets near the door she starts scratching to go out......I have plenty of warm sweaters and coats.......and a shearling coat for when it get's really cold........maybe it's just time I got over being so nervous......
