| QUESTION: Simon's birthday cake, I need help! I am a little in trouble. I called this lady out of the phone book about making Simon's birthday cake. Well, we got some snow and she called me yesterday saying that she can't deliver it, so my order is canceled. ARGHH! Well, I figured I could just make him one, and I found these recipes online. The only thing is, I want blue frosting (you process cottage cheese to make the frosting), but I don't know if food coloring is harmful to dogs. Heck, I don't know anything about what is harmful to dogs. Here is the link to the cake I will probably make. Can ya'll tell me if anything in it is harmful to dogs? Thanks! http://www.ljcfyi.com/ljcsProjects/cooking/dogCake.html |

| I will post a picture once I am finished. Do you really think the blue food coloring will be alright? |

| Since I was up early this morning doing lesson plans I decided to do a little research on your question. I found something on the ASPCA: ask the animal poison control center. And this is what it said about the food coloring Food colorings approved for human consumption are also safe to be used in foods for pets. We do have to point out that using large amounts of food colorings can sometimes cause changes in the color of the pet's urine, however, but this would not affect the pet's health. Good luck making your cake

| Did you make the cake yet? How did it turn out? I don't know about using food coloring...according to the last post a small amount is ok but I've never put any food coloring in anything that I've made for my dogs. I heard that some people use blueberries, raspberries, or carrots for coloring
