| Snoodles needs Bordatella Booster Snoodles needs her Bordatella booster. Does anyone know if this is a safe shot? I hate getting her her shots, as she is so little, but one still must protect their Yorkies. I remember someone saying how their dog had a bad reaction and don't know if it was this shot or not. Please let me know if it is safe to get her, as I worry about her so. She is 3#, so is a little one! Thanks all! Pat |

| My dog Jewels had a reaction when she got this shot. I don't know if it was it or the parvo/combo shot. She was achey and didn't want to be held and was shaking. By the end of the night she was feeling better enough to let you hold her and she wasn't shaking anymore. I think more dogs don't have a reaction than do though and you will probably be okay. Jewels is also small only 2lbs so that could play a factor also.

| Thanks Chichi! I am so scared to get it done, and not even sure what it is for. Her last shots she got, she was doing what your dog did, She was shaking and crying, etc. I called the vet and he had me give her 1/4 of a baby aspirin. She did get better by the end of the night too, but it sure scares me. Thanks for your in-put, but not sure that is what I wanted to hear! Oh Dear! What to do! Pat |

| Before they give the shot I would remind them that Snoodles has reactions. The shot is for Kennel Cough so its really needed. My other dog Chachi doesn't have any reactions so I really don't know why some do and some don't. I am not looking forward to Jewels next shot the rabies. I know she will have a reaction.

| Athena just got the nasal spray bordetella over the weekend too. Hercules was given the actual shot. A hint someone told me on YT that I used when Athena was given her last distemper parvo over the weekend is to gently rub the area that was given the shot right after it's given. In past weekes, Athena was very tender in the area for the following two days. This time, I rubbed the area and we did not hear any crying from her when we touched the area. So I definitely think it helps!

| Oh Gosh I am so scared! I did look back at her records, and she had this twice before. It was when they gave her rabies with it and a few others, that she shook and whined! I hate this! She is just so tiny! Breaks my heart, but guess I should do it. Chachi! If this is for kennel cough, isn't that if they are in a kennel? Do they really need it? Thanks! Pat |

| They don't have to have it. Kennel cough is what they can get from being around other dogs. Its kinda like a doggie cold Is thee way I've heard it described. I don't know if they can get it from places like the groomers and such. I don't think I am gonna let them give it to Jewels again because she is an indoor dog. She had a terrible reaction and I am shocked to hear a dog died from this.

| ...In NJ, the Bordatella shot/nasal spray is required by most groomers. The bacteria in these grooming shops from cleaning dogs is dangerous for puppies who have not been fully vaccinated. My Comet is 5 months and has not been to the groomers yet, because he still needs one last bordetella. I have been grooming him at home. Comet received the bordatella nasal spray. He was a little tired for a day or two, but after that he was perfectly fine. This is a perfect example of every dog being different. |

| Before my vet gave it my puppy, he asked if she would be going to the groomers and he said that he recommended it if she was bc the groomers require it. She had the nasal vaccination and had no problems. |

| My little guy had the actual shot if that makes a difference, I do not know. I did give the shot to my female and there has been no problems. Am very leary about it though I just cringe when going to the vet for shots, and massage does help the injection site , do the same for my kids when they recieve shots. Did not know you could loose a pup over a shot, was very attached to the little guy, hard to loose them.. My breeder replaced him for me had to wait a couple of months for a new pup but was nice of them to do so. I thought the state should of paid me for the price of him no such luck but paid over 2ooo for all the vet fees and autopsy. Last edited by 011011; 05-17-2005 at 04:10 AM. |

| I took Ender to the vet for the first bordella and they did the nose spray. Since then he has had a snort, almost pug like. He doesn't have any other symptoms or problems that would lead me to think he's sick but the nasal spray might have irritated or cause some phlyem cause he snorts often now like he's clearing his sinuses.
