| Flying United - Do I Have to Use a Sherpa Bag? I am flying in two weeks on United Airlines. When I called to make the reservation for the pup, they told me I need a Sherpa Bag. Even the smallest Sherpa Bag will be HUGE for this baby. I know that Sherpa advertises as being "Airline Approved", but does it really matter? I know the bag cannot exceed 9" in height - but I'd like a bag that I feel will be more comfortable. Has anyone used a different bag for flying and did the airline's comment on the type of bag you had??

| As long as the bag is "airline approved" it doens't have to be a Sherpa brand. It's just a brand name, perhaps they were giving you an example of what's allowed. We do have a Sherpa bag for flying, the smallest one, (I guess we'd need two now!) and it was huge for Starr (she was 5 lbs). It's kind of nice for them to have a little extra room.

| When we first started flying with Toto, we chose the Sherpa although United didn't specify. That was several years ago and I am still using the Sherpa. Toto loves it and because airline seats aren't always the height they say, it is flexible enough make it fit and she is still comfy. I always put extra blankies, etc. in there for her and dress her warmly this time of year because it's cold down there. She loves it because the top unzips and she can keep her little head out and watch everything while we are in the airport. She is trained to only enter/exit through the front zipper door and I can just leave the top unzipped and tell her to stay and she does! Good luck!

| Actually when I flew United from Korea with Tinkerbell I had her in her pink kennel, but they said it was not the right size but they still let me on the plane with it. We flew almost 10 hours and no problem, once I got to San Francisco, same airline made a big fuss about my kennel(the same one I had just used for a 10 hours trip). They actually made me buy a sherpa bag(they were really nice and I got it for $30.00 dollars thru them) They even gave me a united airlines blanket for Tinkerbell The bag was really huge for Tinkerbell but she plenty of room to rest. Our next flight was a 2 hour flight to Boise, Idaho. P/S I didn't know they sold them there Or maybe we just got lucky I was afraid we were going to loose our flight and after 10 hours on a plane with 3 kids and one Yorkie, that is the last thing I wanted
