| House Smells Like Pee....eew Rosie has peed all over my parents house. Now the place smells like pee. Is a steam cleaner the only way to get the odor out? I don't know if the powder you sprinkle on carpets will do the trick or just cover the smell. Any suggestions? |

| A good steam cleaning would probabaly be the best solution..... and once it is cleaned.......... Stanley Steemer has some spot cleaner that works pretty well....... the best thing you can do for Pee Pee accidents is get to them as soon as possible.... if the spot is diluted with water first and then soaked up with a towel... it helps. There is also a machine that is available called a "Spot Bot" that is suppose to do a pretty good job and there is a cleaner by bissel that you can use in it that is for pet stains ( My daughter used one when her "pound puppy" was being potty trained and seemed to think that it worked well) Maybe confining the puppy to one area when you are unable to watch her for "gotta go pee pee signs" would help, too. Good Luck! |

| I smell your pain. Our oldest yorkie (during potty training) chose to pee on our dining room rug (it was green). When I called a professional cleaner he said that even steam cleaning would not get out all the smell so he advised us to take our rug outside and hose it down with a high pressure sprayer. Before we did this I sprayed it real good with the urine off . It helped a little but every time it rains I can still smell urine. We have given up and removed all the carpet in our living/dining room and are installing solid wood floors. |

I use the odor control powder and use a wet shampoo vac once a week and while it controls it for a few days, I'm not sure its a permeant solution. It doesn't help that just as we got one dog trained we got another puppy. | |

| I would put a diaper on her while you are housebreaking her. Cleaning pee off of her will be easier than cleaning carpet. My grandmother wouldn't do this and she is having to clean her carpet once a month just to get the smell and stain out. I clean my carpets once a year. I rent the rug doctor steam cleaner and it does really well. Good Luck

| Steam cleaning won't work unless you use some kind of enzymatic stuff on it first (Simple Solution, etc.) that will actually get rid of the urine smell. Otherwise, the dog can still smell it and will go there again! Good luck

Cool! We are having a time trying to housebreak my daughter's pup. She is so bad we can't even let her run freely around the house. If we are not watching her very closely she will pee or get into things. She is just a wild thing.LOL

| We pulled our carpet up and stained the concrete (spelling) underneath. It turned out very nice and it was fairly easy to do and very cheap. We did it to get us thru until we could afford hard wood, but we have decided to keep it for good. I love it! We got the stuff at Lowes. People with more time and creativity can make it look like marble or rock. It's way cool. |

| I have this same problem with Oscar peeing on the bedroom carpet in my new apartment. He's stopped doing it, but the smell was BRUTAL!! So, I mixed baking soda with a mild detergent and water in a bucket - scrubbed the floor and was amazed to find that it works really well! My room no longer smells of pee! I'm going to do it one more time and then treat it with a product I bought that was recommended to me at a pet store (Odour Out I think it's called). If you can't get your hands on a steam cleaner, this could be a quick, easy solution.
