| New To The Community!! Need Advice!! Hello Everyone, I need some advice on trying to buy a cute, healthy male Yorkie. I would like to know your input. My husband and I just recently got married! We also do not have children at this time. A young lady contacted us about buying a yorkie mixed with s**t tzu, as she calls them "shorkies" . Her web site is www.pricelesspups.net. The price starts at $1700 and up with a 5 year health warranty. She states that the mix breed is better than any other when it comes to health reasons. Is this true? Would you buy one? We are so new to this and have been seeking very good advice from another breeder. My husband would like to know what do you think about it. If anyone knows of a good breeder that have any male yorkies available within the price of $800-$1500, we are ready to buy. Please tell me what you think, all advices are welcome. Thank you. |

| 5yr health warranty? WOW! That's awesome! Sometimes mixed breeds do get the best of both breeds, but sometimes it can be the worst. Theres really no way to tell exactly what traits the pup is getting. As for the price, well I personally wouldn't pay that much for a mixed breed, but to each there own.

| We have plenty of great breeders here on YT. just wait patiently, and don't rush into anything. Remember that you are getting a puppy, which means that you'll have 12-17 years commitment. I looked for a breeder and my perfect pup for over 1.5 year, and I have to say... it was worth waiting. Good luck with your search... and keep in touch with us, BC we always LOVE to see new faces here.

| I checked out her site, and to tell the truth I don't think I would buy from her. Maybe before YT I wouldve (LOL). I saw one too many breeds of dogs, and she mixes all of them it seems. Plus from just skimming the pages I saw 2 dogs that she uses the size as a selling point. And she called a maltese a teacup, I haven't really researched malteses but I don't think there are teacup malteses...so if she tries saying it is you definitly want to stay away.

| The link didn't work for me... But, I agree with Rae Rae - 1500 is way too much for a mixed breed. And I find her claim that a "mix breed is better than any other when it comes to health" a little funny... there are no guarantees with dogs - whether they are mixed or purebred. A 5 year health gaurantee is phenomenal - I have NEVER heard of a breeder offering such a long gaurantee (usually it's one or two years). What exactly is her gaurantee? What does it cover? If you want a purebred yorkie, get a purebred yorkie - I'm sure there's a couple people on here that can recommend the breed to you fulheartedly For your price range, you could most certainly get a purebred male yorkie. Just make sure you feel good about your decision - don't rush into it, continue to do research and don't hesitate to contact several breeders. Contacting and asking questions doesn't commit you to purchasing. When I was searching for my first yorkie, I contacted 15 different breeders (7 replied) and narrowed my search down to 2 fabulous breeders (later got a puppy from each breeder). I did a lot of research on the breed and asked the breeders TONS of questions. Good luck in finding your future baby!

| Just my $0.02...I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a mix. For a purebred yorkie with an impressive pedigree perhaps! Sounds like she's trying to take you for a ride. Be patient and find a good reputable breeder in your area or here on YT, find out if they show their yorkies - that's usually a good sign. You can definitely find a nice male for under $1500. to YT - good luck in your search! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Welcome to Yorkietalk, I have learned so much since visiting this site. You say: "She states that the mix breed is better than any other when it comes to health reasons." I thought this was true, but after doing research on this subject it's a bunch of malarkey. If the dog has a genetic fault mixing it with another breed won't help the puppies, the fault can still be passed. For that price you can get a very good AKC registered Yorkie. A good place to start is The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. http://www.ytca.org/breeder3.html#AZ Familiarize yourself on the breed standard. Some people focus on size only and overlook other desirable traits. Also, do a search on selecting a breeder and what qualities to look for. If you have enough money, buy from a responsible professional breeder; don't reward those unethical breeders with one cent. That warranty is only as good as the people behind it. Nancy |

| I personally would NOT buy She does seem to mix whatever.........they are cute babies but for a mixed breed they are extremely overpriced. You could get a purebred yorkie or whatever for less than that. I paid $600 here on YT for my yorkie boy and he is on the small side (AKC registered, excellent health guarantee, superb breeder, etc). I waited quite a while but was well worth it...........YT rules Welcome aboard Jess

I would buy one if I wanted a mixed breed. but I would never pay that much money for a mix. Even a purebred better be mighty special for that price. | |
