| Is My Yorkie Rare? Hi, my name is Kitty and not only am I new to this forum, but I'm also new at owning a yorkie. To make a long story short, I inherited a two-year old male (not neutered) yorkie from a friend-of-a-friend. The woman that owned him before was an elderly lady who could not, and did not take proper care of him. The result? He's underweight, and has patches of his coat that are balding (yes, this is where I step in, to get him to a healthy weight and and appearance). Anyways, all of this isn't that relivant to my question. Okay. Now, this yorkie is full-blooded and is registered. But, he isn't like most other yorkies. He's slightly taller, and his coat is completely black. Other than that, he has a typical yorkie's dispostion, and personality. Is my new baby rare?

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Congratulations on your baby - how great you took him in - He sounds like a yorkie - his hair problems could be treatable and hopefully it will grow back - do you have any pictures of him ? I couldn't tell you if he's rare but they're all rare in our eyes... |

| are you saying that even his legs and face are completely black? There are some yorkies that are almost all black, but still have some gold/tan on them. There are some that don't turn colors until they are 3 years or older too. |

| A photo would really be helpful since it's hard to picture what you are describing. Unusual colors are uncommon so you could say they are "rare", but I have never seen a completely black yorkie. He sounds sweet and adorable. I am really glad he is getting the care he deserves now. Welcome to Yorkie talk and congratulations! |
