| My Good Deed.... yesterday i went to the grocery store and i noticed a chi in a car w/the windows cracked but no a/c and it was HOT! like 87 88. well i went in the store came back out (took about 5min) and still no owner in sight???? the poor dog was panting and it really pissed me off so i called the city cops and they said they'd send someone over and they did. he went in the store and i just sat back and watched he was in there about 15-20 meanwhile this poor dog has been in a hot car for over 30min. well i notice this lady probably in her 60's comming on going the the care, but no cop???? well i just got pissed walked up to her and said i bet you wouldn't like it if someone left you in a car w/ no a/c on a hot day?? and she just kinda looked at me like i know this lady ain't. i continued to tell her that she was wrong for what she did and ramble on about how she wouldn't leave a baby in the car for 5min so why would she leave a dog....blah blah..... it just really made me mad i know she didn't do it to hurt the dog like i said she was an older lady and probably just went in for a few things but got sidetracked or the lines we longer than she thought but how much effort would it have took to go back outside and turn the a/c on for the dog or better yet just left him at the house? i just get worked up about these type of things especially when the cops don't do anything!!! i know he didn't say a word to her b/c when i said something she was surprised. he was probably just wondering around the grocery store to make it look like he was doing something but what he didn't know is i stayed and watched! don't think i won't complain. i bet if that was a baby in that car every cop in camden would have been there. oh and i have nothing against cops i date one (LOL) and he got an ear full!! well i'll get rambling on about my experience just wanted to share with people that actually care about dogs! |

| GOOD FOR YOU! I praise you for doing that. It angers me to no end that the cop did nothing. It isn't difficult to make an announcement over the lous speaker to find the lady. I wonder if cops know that animal cruelty IS against the law!

| you would think they would b/c just a few weeks ago a man tie his horse to the back of the truck b/c it got out of the gate and wouldn't come back in. the reason it would come back was it was starving!!! they had no food they had stripped all the bark off the trees!!! sometimes you just want to slap someone in the face and say WHAT THEY HELL ARE YOU DOING???? i understand he couldn't arrest the women or nothing i just wanted him to say something to her??? atleast make her go get the dog or turn the a/c on for it. i feel a little guilty today for rasing my voice at her it was just that i was angry. see when things like this happen and someone makes an effort to do the right thing and NOTHING is done is makes people not even want to try anymore b/c it's like waht's the point nothings going to happen! |

| Heck, I won't leave my "girls" in the car alone while I go in to pay for gas. (I now pay at the pump if I have them with me). Of course, equal to the fear that something could happen with the car, is my SURE conviction that they are so adorable that someone would bash out the windows to the car and steal them. I totally agree with this. Much as my Maggie loves being taken along on errands (She just LOVES the car!), unless it's to go through a drive through (We have drive through pharmacies, banks and dry cleaners...all of which give her dog biscuits and tell her how adorable she is!), her little furry butt is at home. I love her (and now Molly) WAY too much to leave her alone in the car. Kudos to you for calling the police!! (BTW, in Berea where I live, they give tickets for leaving either children or animals unattended in autos, so we really dont' have a lot of it). |

| You go girl!! I've called the cops myself on people like that - Some people say "that's none of your business" but I wouldn't want to have it on my conscience if I just walked on by and did nothing. |

| This is another good argument for people to train their dogs as service animals and take them into the store with them. It's better for everyone! Good job! You are a hero! |

| I went to a restaurant a few weeks ago (a nice sit down restaurant - not a fast food place) and I saw a family pull up with a dog in their car. The whole family went in & left their dog in the car (windows were shut) while they ate a nice dinner!! Why would they even bring their dog with them?!

| Good for you, I would have done the same thing. I live in a tourist town, and sometimes the people leave their dogs in a car and sometimes even in an open boat on a trailer while they go into a store. If they come in my store I tell them to go back outside and bring the dog in. I know you can't take a dog into a grocery store, but in that case LEAVE IT AT HOME.

| Good Job! I had the same experience at a local drug store,,, I go in and big dog in car,,, I come out 10 mins later,,, dog STILL IN CAR!! ok Im irritated,,, I go in the store and demand that they announce on the loud speaker that " local police will be called if the owner of the car with the dog in it with the WINDOWS UP,, doesnt show up immediately!! Well they did and she did,,,and again it was an old lady,, who seemed clueless, saying that " her prescriptions took longer than she planned" BLAH BLAH,,, I said " leave the dog at home,, Use the drive thru " She seemed irritated ,that I confronted her,, I didnt care! Then, I asked her to open the door and I poured some water in my hand,,and he went after it,,big time.... I said " looks thirsty huh?, Imagine how hot he is" I said.... Try it... get in and sit there for about 10-20 mins! and I left!! Anyhow... Good for you!!
