| female puppy-marking? man i love this site, everytime i find a question-i find the answer right here-either in previous posts or asking the question thanks!!! I got a new baby a week ago-she is too cute-i also have a female that is about 2-they are both yorkies, so one is about 8 lbs and very submissive and the puppy is about 3 lbs and seems to dominate the dog and cat, which is fine-except when the little one needs to go-she will sometimes go on the pad, but sometimes will go on my other dog-on her head! or try to at least, i've noticed espcially if the older dog has a toy -or if there is a toy around, she go near the toy---i've even seen the little one hike her leg to try and tinkle on the older one's head!!! I thought this was a male thing-help! any of you seen this before? i talked to the vet and he laughed and said to continue to show displeasure but it's so annoying-i wish there was a way to teach my older one to take up for herself, but i'm also greatful that she isnt too agressive.... just thought i'd ask-i just have never seen a female-a puppy-do that before! |

| Yes females will mark, it's a sign of dominance. I've seen my female follow the male and mark right on top of where he marked like it's a game of one up manship. When you see her do it tell her sternly no mark! It's how I handle my male whether he's marking or humping. Your other dog must be submissive by nature and there's no way to change that. Your pup is just trying to set the ground rules.
