| Travel with Pets...... Another topic from my newspaper today........ So, what do you do? What do you think? I have to admit, we have gone somewhere w/o Mojo (day trip) and cut the trip shorter to get back to see him. OR we have gone somewhere and could have spent the night, but didn't want to leave Mojo home alone all night. We normally take him if we go somewhere - which can be hard - but we have left him home for a day - never overnight by himself! If we do go somewhere and he can't go, my parents or inlaws keep him - which we know he is loving every minute of it at either place. Is your pet going on a vacation this year? Probably so, according to a new survey by the travel site http://www.TripAdvisor.com . The results of a poll of 1500 travelers revealed how pets affect vacation travel. For openers, 13 percent of respondents report that their pets prevented them from going on vacation at all. 29 percent said they take vacations, but fewer than if they were pet free. More than one-third (38 percent) reported they shortened their vacations so as not to be away from their pets too long. There is some good news for hotels. 37 percent of those polled would be willing to pay more for pet-friendly lodging. The most frequently requested accommodations are pet kennels, but dogs appreciate interactive doggie daycare where they can play with human sitters, and mingle with others of their own kind.

| I think the money I can pay a kennel is the money I can use to take him with me.

| I've never had to use a kennel or daycare --- and I do not think I would - just because of how I am, I guess. I am lucky to have family close by that loves Mojo and loves to take care of him. --and the funny thing is, that we never have to ask one of them to watch him - they ask us! HA!

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I think we're seeing a trend toward more pet-friendly accommodations as more people want to take little 'fido' or 'fifi' on the family vacation. When hubby and I went for an overnight get-away (first one in YEARS!) a couple months ago, I knew I wanted to take Abigail. I looked and looked for decent pet friendly hotels; but kept coming up with places we really didn't want to stay . Imagine my pleasant surprise to find a historic Bed and Breakfast within driving distance that was pet friendly! Sure, we paid extra for the pooch - but, it was worth it to us. It was fun having her, and we didn't have to worry about leaving her with someone back home. I was rather nervous about potty accidents on the carpet - and NO WAY did I let her on the antique furniture downstairs - but she was such a perfect little girl! Not one potty accident anywhere - and, in a strange place!

| we are on vacation right now and we rented a house (which we have done the past two years) so that layla could come.. otherwise we would have stayed at a resort. A major problem is when we were driving down... we drove about 12 hours the first day and needed to stop to sleep but the amount of pet friendly hotels in no mans land is next to none.... there always seems to be a holiday inn express or some sort of hilton around but neither of those hotels allow pets.. however.. we were where we were and stayed at a Hampton (hilton chain) and we just snuck layla in and out in her purse.. i then wrote a letter to the comany saying that i am less likely to stay at their hotel because of their no pet policy, whereas i'm always looking for a Residence Inn by Marriot because ALL Of those hotels allow pets... didn't get much of a response.. but maybe they will think about it. |

| Traveling Now with Little Bit We are now on a trip from TX to MD & have Little Bit with us. First night we stayed at a Jameson Inn in Meridian MS which has a pet section of rooms. They were nice and friendly. Second night is at the Days Inn in Wytheville, VA which is also nice enough. Neither of these are luxury accommodations but are quite adequate. It does complicate eating arrangements but I do prefer to have her with us as our only option was a boarding kennel. |

| I was in Santa Monica, CA a few weeks ago and stayed at Loew's Beachfront Hotel. The are pet friendly and even had a DOGGIE MENU on the room service!! They also had SPA treatments for your pet....LOL...I was thinking Scout would be like "what the ..." I had to go for a business meeting, otherwise I would have thought about taking at least one of my yorks. I've never seen such a dog-friendly area. People had dogs everywhere and they seemed to be welcomed in several stores and outdoor eating areas. That's LA for you!

| okay, itz NOT a luxury hotel but it has beds, a bathroom, and a shower (and TV) ... It IS pet friendly ... MOTEL 6 .... if you are only driving and stopping to sleep ... why not? www.motel6.com/ there is NO charge for the dog, and they are usually near fast food places so you can bring the food back to the room. their rates are reasonable ... and the rooms are clean ... or you can leave the baby alone for an hour and just leave a note on the door saying DO NOT DISTURB ... when I visted my daughter in Syracuse, I took Monday and stayed at a Motel 6 there ... good experience and I coujld stay longer b/c the price was lower. Just a suggestion .... I rec'd a book from the AAA on pet friendly hotels ... and some charge 25$/day ... some only charge a one time fee ...

| I would have never been at the Loews if I was paying the bill !! I thought it was a little over the top to have a spa and room service. They had organic vegetable and free range chicken on the dog menu! And some kind of De-Tox dinner for doggie after the flight..hehe
