I am sorry as I don't have much advise but I am sure your vet will give you much needed info. How old is Tish again? I know how much you are concerned and we all here will be thinking of Tish. Give us a full update on Oct. 25th. Thanks!

Just give her a lot of love and attention when she wants it. She'll likely sleep a lot as the procedure can take a toll on their little bodies.

Tish will be just over 7 months when she gets spayed. I was just wondering on how you stop an active dog from not jumping and how to avoid her from licking her wound.

My mother-in-law's dog absolutely refused to stop licking a wound of his, and she had to get one of those plastic frisbee collars so that he couldn't get to it anymore - i hope you don't have to do anything like that.....i felt so bad. Good luck with everything!!!!!!! In our thoughts!

Maddie was 6 months old when she was spay. I brought her home that night and she slept most of the night. By the next day she was back to normal. If I would have had Rudy I would have left her at the vet that night, because he would have wanted to play. Rudy was neutered a couple of weeks a go and I brought him home that night and he slept and ate a little and by the next day he was fine. They are tuff little furbabies. I was lucky niether one of mine licked there wounds. Talk to the vet about her baby teeth so if she has any to be pulled he can do it at the same time. Maddie had 3 baby teeth pulled and Rudy was 10 months and had lost all of his, because of his age and he was always pulling toys with Maddie. Let us know when the day comes and I will say a little prayer for her....................Cindy

I think that Ana said that she bought her yorkie some kind of little clothes so wear so that they wouldn't lick and it worked really well. She will be tired, and want to take it easy until she feels better. Misha had hers (she's not a yorkie) at about 6 months and she did really well and felt almost completely better the next day. Good luck, and I will be praying for her. Let us know how it all goes.

| yizzl ... my Toto was spayed at about 8 months and she did better than I did!! I was a wreck ... she did great!! We brought her home and she just wanted to be held, she was sooo sleepy. I hardly put her down for two days ... she never did pay any attention to her incision!! I just held her and encouraged her to drink plenty of water! Dr. Lucy said to make sure she didn't jump up or down off anything. I made sure she had plenty of pillows in front of anything she might decide to jump on and she did fine!! I feel certain that Tish will be a great little "patient" ... the only danger I can think of would be the anesthesia, and I'm sure your vet will be cautious with that. Good luck!!

Higgins did really well when he was neutered. He spent the night at the vet and was really just normal when we picked him up the next day. They "glued" him together, with dissolving stitches underneath this skin, so he never licked anything. By the way, they put a tiny tattoo on his belly to let anyone know that he had been neutered. Very helpful should he ever wind up lost and in a shelter (OH WHAT AN AWFUL THOUGHT!). I've already said a little prayer for Tish, because I know how worrisome having them under anesthesia is... On surgery day, you just c'mon in here and we'll give ya a big hug to make ya feel better...... Tish will do fine, I'm sure.

A tattoo! Does it say anything or just a symbol or what is it like Higgin's Mom? I'm just curious about it. Biker chick Yorkies, Yorkies with tattoos, what's next? :P

It's a tiny dark blue male sign, kinda blurred a bit now. LOVE his tattoo! Before they had microchips, we had our dogs tattooed with my social security number and then that was registered with the National Dog Registry. IT SAVED THEIR LIVES!!! They (2) were stolen from their locked kennel, as were several other pedigreed dogs in the general area. 4 of the dogs, all with tattoos, were drugged and dumped at a town dump about 20 miles away from us. A gentleman who drove into the dump stopped someone from shooting them, saying that they looked like good dogs. He called the local dog warden. The warden reunited all of the dogs and owners after contacting the Registry. Eventually, this ring of dog thieves operating in Connecticut and New York, was broken up and prosecuted. The tattoos on my setters were very visible on their bellies, so that is what saved them. Because of that, I have the blue plastic AVID tag that identifies Higgins as a microchipped dog clipped to his harness. I figure that a professional thief would avoid taking a known microchipped dog.

Heah Fasteddie, Schatzie and her Mom are biker chicks, LOL and only one of us has that tatoo, ha ha...However, when it comes time to Schatzie being spayed I will ask my vet about a tatoo and microchip. I cannot imagine her being taken. I once had two Siberian Huskys stolen. They were NOT chipped, one spayed the other not neauterd as too young. The sherrif informed us that the dogs were taken most likely into the state of MO for tests. Broke my heart, didn't sleep forever and wanted to vomit everytime I had a bad visual about what they might be doing to my beloved dogs. That is when I researched "smaller" breeds. Ones who are inside the house with me at all times. Even though this does not secure them 100%. So, Fasteddie, soon those biker chick pictures will be posted. hahhahahaha

Thank you all for your prayers and concerns. After reading this I feel alot better already. Tish still has a baby canine tooth with her adult tooth beside it, so I guess she will be getting some mouth work down also. (DARN). I am also going to get her microchiped while she is under. I was not sure if I was going to take her home the same day or leave her there over night. I guess it sounds like it is a better idea to leave her stay over night. I booked a week off work to stay home with her while she recovers. Am I over doing it or what!!! I bought her a baby outfit to try on so she would not get to her stitches and all she did was run around in a circle pulling at it. I have put clothes on her before but never a whole one piece. Thanks again everyone for your help...I will keep you all posted
