YT Addict | Help! My puppy is bowlegged! My friend just pointed out to me that my newborn puppy is bowlegged... is that normal? and does that present health problems later on with her joints? Please let me know! (She's 2 months by the way) Ashley |

| Have you taken your puppy to the vet to get checked out since you brought her home? That's the person to consult for something like this. |

| My yorkie is also bowlegged which has caused him to have loose knee caps. So far he's done fine with this, we make sure to have stairs for him and taught him to not jump. Sometimes it can cause the tendons to pull the knee cap toward the center and over time the tendons can become too loose to hold it in place. But other dogs seem to be ok with this (especially if they dont strain it too much with crazy jumping), there is also a corrective surgery available if it ever gets to that point. I would definatly ask the vet, they might even be able to tell you if your pup already has luxating patella's. Pete was diagnosed at about 4 months, he is now 2 yrs and has only had one episode where his knee cap popped out and stayed out long enough to take him to the vet. Our vet still doesnt think Pete needs surgery and hopefully if we keep him from jumping he may never need it. I would also like to add that if Pete ever needs surgery in the future I wont hesitate to do it, I dont regret for a second on picking him I could never find another like him. He's my best little furbaby and I love him to pieces!

| Ive also heard of people on here who have had furbabys who were bowlegged and lived their entire lives without any problems. So I guess that doesnt help too much since its kind of a may or may not situation, I'd ask your vet they may be able to tell you.

| It could be just a puppy thing and he/she will grow out of it ... but yes, mention it when you take it in for her shots. |
