| Stores/Shopping Spinoff Post While reading the below post about people taking their dogs shopping (excluding the pet store chains that everyone already knows are pet-friendly), I thought it might be helpful to some if people posted a list of the stores that they have been allowed into (NOT sneaked into!!!!!) without any hassle. Obviously different individually owned stores will be somewhat different but their protocol (whether or not they have a no-pets policy sign posted) is generally the same in chains. I have taken my dog (in a tote) successfully to: Dollar Tree Office Max ..and thats all I can think of off the top of my head. I will NOT take her to WalMart (did it with no problems multiple times, as many workers were fine with it until one particular employee, so I stopped) or ANY grocery store. Everyone else..? |

| I used to take them more when Kiki was little, and I only had one. With two, it's harder, and Mazie gets motion sickness. With a carrier, I've been in places like: Dollar General Salvation Army Tractor Supply Store shoe store

| I take Jaden with me everywhere unless there is a sign posted on the door that says "no animals allowed" and if anyone ever asks me to leave I gladly do and once I've been told that I don't normally go back there. I normally don't let Jaden out of his carrier when we are in stores but I've taken him without a carrier, just in my arms into: Humane Society Donation Center Michaels Crafts Store Joanne Fabrics Lowes Home Depot The Pet Supply Store in the mall and obvioulsy Petsmart, Petco, all those places. I've taken him everywhere in his carrier, walmart, target, the mall, Khols, TJ Max, Goodys, Sears, J.C Penneys, Big Lots, Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Nordstorms, The Mac makeup store, Starbucks, the list could go on and on... I will say though that Jaden is very quiet, he never barks and he doesn't move around. His carrier is completly closed so he's not sticking out of it and can't cause anyone to complain about "allergies" even though yorkies are hypoallergenic. If signs are posted or I am made aware that he's not welcome I respect it but if there are no signs and no ones ever told me anything I take him. He enjoys being with me and sleeps in his carrier almost the entire time. I never let him out of his carrier in stores to walk around. Ona few rare occasions in stores where I have seen other people with their dogs in their arms I will hold him in my arms but I never let him walk on the ground. Mainly because he's so small I'm afraid he'll get her but I also have no idea what's on the floor and even though he's trained you never know when they might get nervouse and have an accident so I just prefer to stay on the safe side. I don't take him into restaurants where they serve open food or high end places where it is known and signs are posted "no animals are allowed", its kind of a given lol. I will take him into some fast food places to pick up my food and always to places where you can sit on a deck/outside. I don't take him into hospitals just because even though I know how clean he is and how "allergy free" he is, I wouldn't want to risk someone having any complications from him whatsoever. Sometimes I do bring him into our local nursing home to see the patients. They enjoy him so much and I've cleared it with the head person there before hand so I know its ok. If he can't go somewhere with me I try to get someone to come with me and stay with him in the car or leave him home with someone watching him or if I don't HAVE to have something I just don't go there anymore... |

| I have two totes that I typically use; but both of them have an opening on at least one end. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I feel like it'd be easier for us to avoid attention if her little head wasn't poking out, regardless of how well behaved she was. I'd rather not spend the money on another being that I already have two (and still havent justified the last one's purchase other than it being cute, lol) so are there any ideas of ways to sort of cover the ends? Or do a lot of you just allow the head to stick out and deal with it? I know I'm invading on the original question but I posted it so I don't feel bad, lol. |

Actually I have a friend who is VERY allergic to Rocky. Everytime she comes to my house she has to take benadryl before hand, and usually passes out after getting here, LOL. Just thought I'd let you know that some people are allergic to them. And of course, Rocky loves her to death! (I guess she's his Godmother!) Quote:

I prefer the closed carriers, I got one that's open but only used it once. When Rocky gets excited he tries to jump out, so with the closed one he can't do that.

| That's strange, I have REALLY bad allergies, horrible allergies and most pets make me feel literally sick. My sister has a boxer and I can hardly be around it very much because I am sneezing and feeling so horrible when I'm there. My brother also is allergic to everything you can think of and Jaden doesn't bother either of us in the slightest. I talked with my vet about it and she told my that Jaden is hypoallergenic and cannot cause allergies. He is an AKC pure bred yorkshire terrier, not a silkie or a mixed breed, I don't know if that makes any sort of difference or not and he is small, just barely 4 pounds... I don't know, I do bathe him a lot, he gets the full grooming treatment once every 5 days so maybe that has something to do with it, I don't know The breeder I got him from said he couldn't cause allergies either and everytime he's been around people I know who have allergies they've never had a problem with him so I don't know why he doesn't cause allergies to flare up?? I've actually never been kicked out of anywhere... I've heard another lady get talked to, she was carrying her Maltese and he wasn't in a carrier and even though Jaden was in a carrier I just left to. If I know its the stores policy then I won't go, but unless they make me aware of it then I'll go. I don't have a problem being asked to leave, if they want to ask me I'll be glad to do it. I refuse to leave him in the car alone. |

| Molly is very good and loves her carrier. Her head will go back in the carrier when someone tries to pet her (my turtle dog). Not everyone notices her cause her carrier is the same color as her and she will sometimes lay down. She has been in: Hollywood Video Blockbuster Savon Best Buy Borders Barnes and Nobles Circuit City Mervyns Staples Many Mall Stores Outside Mall Outside patio restaurants JC Penney I have never been asked to leave. yet...

| Abbey always stays in her closed Sherpa carrier except at Petsmart or some other pet store or sometimes at Lowe's or Home Depot. We have gone to the following: Walmart Target Lowe's Home Improvement Store Home Depot Michaels's Craft Store Walgreens drug store Jersey Mike's Sub shop Khol's Dept. store Several pet stores Outdoor restaurants California Pizza a diner connected to a gas station 24 hour family restaurant off the interstate She just lies quietly in her carrier. I don't 'sneak' her in, but I don't advertise that she is there either. I don't take her anyplace where I see a sign that says no pets. We have never been asked to leave. Even one restaurant we went into for breakfast while we were on a trip. I am sure everyone knew we had a dog while we were standing in line waiting for a table. But no one said a word, not even the waitress. Her carrier was on the seat beside me (we had a booth) and she moved sometimes, but never made a sound. We do not stay long at any place when she is with us. Just do our business and leave. I take her with us everywhere when we are on a trip someplace and it is summer. I won't leave her in a car. If we were asked to leave, either my husband or I would wait outside with her while the other one did the shopping. It works for us. Ellie |

| I stopped at the door and asked the security guard at Walmart and he actually let me in to drop off film. Otherwise I have only been in the petstores and Blockbuster. My friend just got kicked out of target, the manager told her they sell food there & can't allow animals. I have seen pets in Marshalls, and TjMaxx.
