New Yorkie owner - New to thread Hi All. I'm new here and also a new Yorkie owner and couldn't be more proud of my little DaisyLove. She is a doll and very sweet. She's gonna be tiny too, at 4mo. old, she is only 1.13lbs!!! Her daddy is only 2 1/2 and mom is 4lbs... I am hoping to get alot of good information about my Yorkie etc. I have posted on other threads and there seems to be some against Yorkies... hard to believe I know...but true - hehehe Daisy is doing well, after a rough start - (came from the breeder w/ Giardia) but now, better, eating well and growing. I do need some helpful advice on potty training.... she is so tiny that taking her outside (it's cold here now as well) is difficult. She does "fair" with the puppy pads - but won't poopie on them. I'll be happy to hear any ideas that have worked... thanks so much.

Hi!! Welcome to YT!!! This site is full of information...you will love it here! Try laying a second pad....When we first brought Timmy home he would not poop on the same pad he peepee on so I started to place 2 pads...one for peepee and one for poop. It worked for me. I also wanted to say it does take time but you will get there. You could also got to the search tab on top and type potty training...you will find loads of info from other ppl here. Glad you found us and can't wait to see pics of your baby!!!

| What could anyone have against Yorkies? I wish I could offer some house-training advice but I am still muddling through this stage with two of them of my own. Mine mostly go outside, hit the pads most of the time inside, but then they just seem to forget and do it where ever they want -- just when I think I am making progress. I am seeing some stains on my carpet where I evidently have missed cleaning up. Looks like I will be steam cleaning this weekend and then I might put the belly bands on over Christmas. Congrats on your Yorkie baby and welcome. Hope you love it here as much as I do.

Maizee mostly goes outside as well. Sometimes she can't hold her peepees in, but she does pretty well with going poopy outside. She used to be TERRIBLE though. I tried laying two puppy pads down and she would just pee on both. . I guess I just got used to picking up poo on the floor whenever it happened. I tried lots of things, but nothing ever worked. Yorkies are so stubborn sometimes, but we love 'em anyway! Oh, and Welcome and congratulations on your new baby!

I'm new owner also and we are training him to use the pads and go outside. When he starts sniffing around that's a hint that he wants to pee or poo or whenever he is on the bed with us and he wants to get down, that's another hint that tell us that he wants to pee or poo, so I take him to the pads to do his business. What I don't understand is that he will poo on the pads and 2 minutes later he will pee on the carpet or vice versa. Also, another technique that we use is the crate. When we leave the house He is on the crate for about an hour or so and when we come back, immediately we take him outside to do his business, either he will pee or poo outside and when we get back inside he does his business again, it's frustrating sometimes, but we love our puppy and we are going to train him well. I hope it helps.
