Teeth pulling surgery Thanks to all of the great advice I got here, I decided to bring Wembley to the vet last week to have them check out her double layers of some of her teeth. The vet agreed that some (3) of her baby teeth never fell out, and as everyone here thought, Wembley will have to have surgery (including anesthesia) to have her teeth pulled. She reacted perfectly fine to everything when we had her spade at 6 months, but I know this is totally different, and was curious if anyone else had this with their baby? Any after-care advice or tips on what I should expect? Thanks! -Rachel

Hi Rachel! Thats a very good question and I am curious to read the responses from others who have gone through this. I just made an appt. for both Missy and Max to be spay/neutered and teeth pulled. They both go in on the same day June 15th, so I have plenty of time to do my research and ask questions. When is Wembley's appt?

My yorkie had 2 of her baby teeth pulled at the same time she got spayed. She was fine. There really isn't anything you can do for them, just give them lots of hugs and kisses. My baby wasn't in any pain afterwards, just ate really carefully. But within a few days she was back to normal. Don't worry everything will be fine!

Trevor had 2 teeth pulled last Friday when he was neutured. If I hadn't known which teeth it was, I would never have known. You couldn't even tell that he had a canine pulled. As far as how he felt, he ate normally and his gums never looked red or sore. His vet put internal stitches, so there was nothing for him to lick or chew and he certainly didn't get an e-collar. I keep seeing posts where their vets put those on them after they're neutured and can't figure that out! Everything will be just fine.... don't worry. (too much!) Cyndie Trevor's Mom

I am getting ready to go through the same thing with my Sophie. I am glad to here that it isn't that bad. I think she has to have both bottom canines and one upper front tooth pulled at the same time as her spaying. Sophie'smom

| Biddy had a tooth pulled when she was spayed & everything went fine. They gave me her tooth (which is pretty gross) but I couldn't bare to throw it away so I put it in her baby book!!

I never knew this was something they did till I brought Gidget in to be "fixed" they said that they would pull them out (all 6 of them) She didnt seem to have any pain with them out.......I thought she would need to eat some moist food for a few days since I was thinking when I have had teeth pulled I had been tender, but the crunchy didn't bother her one bit (she couldnt wait to eat) I am thinking that it might feel better for them.

Thanks all for all your advice. I wish I had known about the teeth problem when she was spayed, so she wouldn't have to go through all of this again. At least they say she can come home the same day, unlike last time when they kept her overnight. Good luck to everyone else having puppy teeth pulled. I will definitely post how she is doing post-surgery. :-)

| Do not worry about the surgery!! Mia had 5 of her baby teeth pulled out (they just wouln't fall out) and she was fine. She was a bit groggy after the surgery for the rest of the day, but the next day she was her old self again. She did have a bit of diarrhea cuz of the anesthesia, but that's about it. I gave her canned food the day she got back, but the next day she ate her normal food. All your pooch will need is some TLC

Dudley had 13 teeth pulled when he was neutered at 7 months. The vet was very concerned that he had a full double set and no signs of them falling out. He was kinda sick for awhile but did recuperate after about a week, of course he had both surgeries at the same time. Hope this answers your questions.
