| Go, dog, GO. Nico is now about 12-13 weeks old and I am noticing he runs from my husband and me. If we walk towards him to pick him up, he runs. However, if I sit down, he comes to me. Why is this? We have not mistreated him or given him any reason to mistrust us. Is this normal? How can I get him to stop???

| he just wants to play "catch me" with you. Lilo was doing this same thing at this age, she stopped once she learned how to sit, and how to stop on command. Good luck with the training.

| Rebel did the same thing in the yard until he got big enough to go up the steps by himself. Now when I call them in, he trots right along behind Lucy and comes in the house. He's still kind of like that in the house though. It's like he's afraid I'll put him in the playpen every time I pick him up. (which I don't)

| I was going to say what Nikita & Lilo posted. Rocky runs from me too if he wants to play. Maybe try going up to him, and when he runs, run the other way. If he does chase you then chances are he's just wanting to play

| layla did the SAME thing... we finally have taught her to "come here" and we point on the ground... she has learned that means to come... stay still... get picked up... and of course since this is new.. she gets BIG rewards and treats! she still wants to run sometimes when you go to pick her up.. but i keep saying.. come here... and pointing to the floor infront of me... try.. and good luck! |

| Siu Pao used to be like that too. Now instead of me chasing him, I get him to chase me when I want him to go somewhere and when they see you run, they will chase you! Its their instinct.

| My dogs are always this way. They always want to come to me "on their own terms." If I reach to pet them - they back away - and if I go to pick them up - we have a "try and catch me" game instantly -- which they think is great fun - and which they usually win. When I do catch them - they will sit with me and cuddle up and enjoy it, but before long they want down and off to do their own thing again. Then - when they feel like it - they run and jump up on the sofa beside me and want to snuggle and take a nap. This is normal at my house. My dogs like to be held when they want to be held - but, obviously, this isn't all the time. Nevertheless - my dogs are still very playful, loving, and affectionate. They would never consider sleeping anyplace other than right beside me...snuggle -snuggle! ***** This is somewhat off the subject - but I think that my Bichon with his cottony fluffy coat of hair - sometimes gets too warm being next to me. Because he often jumps down and goes somewhere where he can really stretch out - almost like he is trying to cool off. Who knows! Carol Jean |

| Okay...I swear this is the 1000th harness I've put on this stinker!! The one he chewed off this morning I just got LAST NIGHT!!! Needless to say, I am on the look out for a good quality harness. I may as well pay for a good one instead of buying all these little nylon ones. I HAVE to have a harness for him! He stays with my mom while I work and she took him out to potty one day and he RAN from HER! IMAGINE A 60 YEAR OLD TRYING TO CATCH A PUPPY! A YORKIE AT THAT!! So...any suggestions??!!!!

| Oh, by the way. On this last harness I got an idea from a fellow YT'er and they said to drench it with taste deterrent. So I doused it with bitter apple. If he still chews it off THIS DOG IS INVINCIBLE!!!
