| chewed the christmas light cord.... ...completely in two last night. When we go to bed at night she usually prowls around a little before she settles in bed with us. Apparently last night she chewed through the cord. I wondered why it took her longer to settle than usual. I went to turn on the lights today to show my dad and heard a pop and no lights. Then tonight when hubby checked it out found where she had chewed it. Scared me to death. Hubby says it has a safety on it so it would not have hurt her if on but I am so glad it wasn't.

| Please be careful! I have friends who had a 3 month old pug puppy named Luke. Luke chewed a lamp cord and was electrocuted. He was taken immediately to an emergency vet but was DOA. My Lucy likes to roam at night, but after this happened, I started closing my bedroom door and I have no cords hanging that she can reach.

| glad it didnt hurt her. I have most cords up high or blocked from them except the xmas tree lights but they've been good about minding and staying away from the tree, but I keep an eye on them ( real close eye) when their in the LR. Usually i'm in there with them or I can at least see them. good post tho and sorry the little one got electrocuted.

| wow, you got really lucky that she wasn't seriously hurt. One of my dog's breeder told me how, sadly, he had several people whose puppies chewed on cords and shocked themselves. Maybe you should put up a puppy gate to keep her in the bedroom at night? Or crate her?

| Lillybelle, my yorkie doesnt bother the tree, but our cat does--or did---until I bought a squirt gun (you could use a spray water bottle from the dollar store). I didnt like giving her a swat, or harsh words-so I just gave one squirt and said no...after just a few times, she doesnt go near the tree. |

| Buddy chewed through our tree when he was 10mos old. My tree is pre lit and he chewed a six inch piece off lights and all. Thank god I found him before he bit into a glass bulb. The tree was on and he was not shocked. I put a gate up across the hall so he can not go into the other rooms while I sleep, however, he never leaves my side until I am up. The bottom row of lights remain out on our tree I am glad your baby was not hurt. Carol & Buddy |

| ZsaZsa is bad about chewing cords too. She got a hold of the tree lights this year but usually just has a taste for my bf's speaker wires. I think I'll get some bitter apple spray and see if that will deter her.
