| Carson hates wearing clothes! Carson is only 14 weeks old and whenever I put clothes on him he like gets all depressed and runs around rubbing up against stuff to try and get if off. He'll just sit there and doesn't want to play or anything. Is that how your all's puppies were? Do you think he'll get used to it maybe once he's older?! Thanks for any help |

| Well when I dress my Bailey up he just sits there but because he doesn't like the way I guess the clothes feels I only dress him up when we go somewhere like to pet stores, vet, etc.......he don't even like his collar that much he scratches at it but I still buy him lots of clothes but he is much happier with the clothes on in someone arms

| I'm not trying to be mean, but if Carson is not happy wearing clothes, I wouldn't make him. Some dogs love it and that's fine but why would anyone force an animal to wear something that he finds uncomfortable? If you're trying to grow a long coat on him, clothing mats the hair besides. I love my yorkie as much as anyone here, yet she doesn't have one item of clothing. This is what she thought about the whole deal... <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y295/rox626/Debbie4yearsold.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> Debbie the nudist and happy to be one! <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y295/rox626/Debbie4yearsold.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> Last edited by rox626; 12-12-2006 at 09:19 PM. |

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | How many times have you tried to put clothes on him? Maybe he just isn't used to wearing them yet. My Stedman LOVES wearing his clothes - he actually prefers to have something on his body, lol. The only thing he will NOT tolerate is anything on his head, or in his hair...but he LOVES his clothes! Maybe once your baby gets used to them he will be fine...but I do agree with everyone else, if he is TOTALLY uncomfortable wearing them, then I say just let him be naked and free!

| I know what you mean about them not liking clothes. The first time I put a sweater on Rowdy, he acted like he had rigor mortis!!! He was stiff, wouldn't walk, move, or anything. But we were in the mountains, and it was very cold (we are from Texas and he wasn't used to such cold) and he was shaking all the time we would be outside for him to potty. I kept trying to get him used to the sweater because I knew it would keep him warmer. One time I put it on him and he saw something he wanted to chase, and he took off. From that moment on I guess he realized that he could move just fine with the sweater on and he hasn't had any problems since then. I think sometimes they just have to get used to it. However, if they always seem to hate the clothes, then I don't think you should dress them. I only put sweaters on my boys when it is really cold and they are shaking.

| These little dogs probably should wear a coat or sweater when they go out into very cold weather --- But, other than this --- our little dogs wear clothes because WE WE WE think they are cute......and because they are our "little babies," and everyone knows that babies wear clothes --- right? I have two dogs - and not to long ago had three -- but anyway, all three of my dogs are so laid back that they could care less if they are wearing clothes or not. And, oddly, in a way - I really think they do like wearing clothes. I don't know why - but they will run to me if I have something to put on them. It's probably because we are usually going someplace - and they know that. My dogs wear clothes very rarely....once or twice a month or so - So - who knows why some dogs hate clothes and others don't mind them at all. I feel like most of us - if they really hate clothes - don't make them wear them! I sure wouldn't..... Good luck - Carol Jean |
