| Flying with a furbaby Well, my family and I are heading out on the 26th to visit my brother in Texas. We live in Illinois. Has anyone ever flown with their baby? And if so, how did that go over? I'm not sure if I should take her with or leave her with a friend. . . |

| We travel all the time with Ellie. We have since she is a puppy. The first time we flew, the vet gave me medication for her, but I didn't give it right away. I wanted to see how she would do first. It turned out that she didn't need the medication at all. Sometimes traveling is a very long process, but Ellie is always so good. She stays in her bag and never cries or barks. We take her along every place we go but she loves going. When we take her bag out and put it on the floor, Ellie jumps right in and stares at us, like OKAY, I'M READY. It is really funny. Good luck with the trip.

| I have flown with both Phoebe & Annie. Phoebe to Walt Disney World & I flew from WA to TN to get Annie & bring her home. Since the holidays are such busy times I would check now to see there is still room on your flights for a pet. The rules only allow 2 pets in cabin. You will need a current health certificate from your vet when you fly. The cert is usually only good for 14 days, so depending on how long you plan on staying, I would get it within just a day or 2 of your departure. THIS IS IMPORTANT! I had flown previously with Guide Dogs for the Blind, I just new I had to have that health cert. never questioned anything. When we were taking Phoebe with us to WDW, I called the airline the gal I talked to said we did not need it. Hmmmmmm........ that did not sound right. So a few days later I called the airline back, asked the same question about the Health Cert. & told them what I was told previously & what I knew from experiance. They informed me that the airlines are not the ones that require the health cert. It is FAA. If you are caught without it you will not be allowed to board the plane with your pet! BTW flying this time with Annie I was asked for my papers at security. As I mentioned before, you can fly with pet in cabin as long as there is room. You have to reserve the spot. So check now do not wait any longer. Also they can be in a soft sided carrier it just needs to fit under the seat. Check the airline website for exact dimensions. I did not have a problem with either carrier. This last time I used my Celltei. The fee for pet in cabin depends on which airline, you are charged for each direction. When I flew on Continetal with Annie it was $90 each way, AA with Phoebe was $80 each way. One other thing. It is a FAA rule that pets must remain in the carrier under the seat. So if you try to take out your pet & they tell you to put it away do not get upset with the attendents it is not their rule it is a FAA rule. Some attendents will not say anything though. Hope this helps.
