| How long has your dog kept a toy? I have a Yorkie and a Bichon. My Bichon came to me (by airplane) 6 years ago when he was only 9 weeks old. He was in a crate and he brought a white stuffed dog toy with him. I am looking at him asleep on the carpet. He is six years old and still has his same toy. He sleeps with it in his mouth every night - and takes several naps a day the same way. Right now he is lying on the carpet a few feet from me - sound asleep with his little white toy in his mouth. I think that when he brought it here with him - it must smelled like his mother for a long time. His little toy has certainly held up well. It really has no damage and is very much like new. He is gentle with it. He only sleeps with it. I do throw it in the wash every few months - and it comes out like brandnew every time. **** Wouldn't it be wonderful if he could keep this little toy that he loves so much for the rest of his life. The way things are going - I'll bet it makes it. Then there's Murphy - my Yorkie - he has 50 toys - every size and shape - and they are scattered from one end of the house to the other. He doesn't even have a favorite. He plays with everyone of them every day. And, he always finds a way to open each them and pull all the stuffing out. But - he nevers plays with Louie's (my Bichon's) toy. He has never even shown any interest in it. Somehow, he just knows that it belongs to Louie. Carol Jean |

| Well, it all depends. If it's a really hard plastic bone (like a Nylabone) she still has them from when she was a pup. If it's a doggy loofah/soft and fuzzy, a few months until she pulls all the fuzz off. If it's that soft squeaky plastic, not even a day!!! See example below. Glad (Jaspermom) bought this for Baby, and in a few minutes she ripped Mr. Wishbone's nose off!!!

| Maizee is a little over a year old. I have a stack of stuffed animals in the corner of my room and the first day I brought her home she made a flying leap right into the center of it, pulling out what I call "ugly bear". It's this hideous bear from the movie "The Country Bears" that my cousin got in a happy meal a couple years ago. I had even forgotten I had it until she pulled it out. Now she won't go anywhere without it. She takes it in her bed, her crate and even drags it up and down the stairs whenever she follows me throughout the house. The thing is about as big as she is! |
