| So as soon as she arrives. ..what do i do? I know ima hug her as soon as i get her in the airport, and kiss her and put her lil sweater on , but once i get her home, the breeder told me to make some water and put a lil bit of syrup in there so she drinks it and gets her sugar back up .... but i need more advice and other opinions on what should i do on that first day, night and the second day of getting my pup ...... |

| At first you want to take it easy. This is a big change for her and she can easily get stressed out. Not too much excitement. You want to make sure she gets rest and that she doesn't get worn out. Make sure she is eating and drinking. Let her get used to her new family and home before you introduce her to anything else. Congratulations!! You must be so excited.

| It only gets worse the closer you get. Good thing they are so worth the wait.

| The first few days?? .... seems like yesterday!! We made sure that everything was puppyproofed, no visitors, had all her stuff ready and just enjoyed her! Believe me, it's hard to do, but we just tried really hard to let her explore and get accustomed to us and her surroundings .... if she wanted to snuggle, she would come to us [my favorite part]. We just watched her in awe!! The rest just kinda went fastforward .... that was over three years ago and it seems like yesterday! Enjoy your little one and cherish every second.

| I have a create for Chewy... I got a water bottle that hangs on the create and when they lick it water comes out...That way he ALWAYS had water and couldn't spill it. He still sleeps in his creat so it was well worth the money. I bought baby blanks toys a cat harness because he was so small... tearless dog shampoo toys baby gate if you need to close off any rooms toys I used plates for his food because he couldn't reach his head into bowl!

| no one said this yet so I'll say it.... LET HER PEE when I got Kayah I was soo excited when I brought her home I forgot that dogs pee (and puppies pee A LOT)... I put her on the floor in the kitchen and turned around JUST FOR A SECOND... turned back.. knelt down.. said Kayah "come" and tapped my hand right into a "little surprise"... GO FIGURE

When you walk him or her... I would try having her go in grass or leaves if outside. Something that holds the smell so they can keep going back to it. They get the idea much quicker that way!!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!!!

| it wasn't that long ago that layla came home! we let her explore the house.. she was very shy... just wanted to be held and sleep... she LOVED her crate... i think she felt VERY safe and secure.. but she didn't eat a whole lot for the first few days... i could tell she was nervous.. try and keep the visitor count down to a minimum until she is comfortable.. she wont' feel like being passed around right away. and just love her up... the time goes SO fast... i was looking at photos of layla as a baby todya.. and oh i miss that time! just soak it all up! |
