| OMG i was so scared...... okay just 10 miniutes ago i let coco out to pee because he rang his bell, and i took my eyes off him for a miniute and next thing you know he is in the middle of the street !! i see a car coming down the hill and so my husband ran to get him and right before he got to him this car was over him and he cried out loud! omg you guys my heart just stopped i yelled at my husband is he okay!and thankfully he wasn't hurt i think he just got scared! so my husband grabs him and we take him inside and felt every inch of his body to make sure everything is in place and thank god he wasn't hit one inch more and she would have ran him over. and the lady didn't even stop . i was almost to tears thinking that he was dead or something i was so scared i'm still shaking!. so now i told my husband when he is outside we cannot leave him not even for a second! and we have to train him to stay in our yard. i think he was following some kids. i live on post so i have alot of neighbors. and none follow the speed limit here either they really speed down the hill and i'm at the bottom left of it. sorry i just had to let it out. thanks for listening. |

| OMG!! What a scare you had!! I had Hefner loose in my front yard once and he started running for the street and I couldn't catch him. He went out into the street and I finally grabbed him. There were no cars but it my worst nightmare that someone will leave a door open and he will do that again and I won't be there. We have a fenced yard and I still put him on a leash when I take him out because i am so paraniod. For going potty I have a large xpen set up in the backyard. I don't even leave them unattended in that because so many of these guys can climb over!! |

| Wow thats awful! Im so glad that coco is OK, some people just shouldn't be allowed on the road . I can't believe she didn't even stop! Did she even see coco? I remember when Lucy got out, our builders left the front door open and we couldn't find her. We lucky, our road is quiet, but knowing how people drive.... |

| OmG, Scary Moment you had. Im so glad that your hubby and Coco are fine. Defenitely fence your yard or take her out on a leash. I can't believe the lady didnt even stop to make sure they were fine. It is so sad how heartless some people can be. Dianne, Im so sorry for your loss. But I know even thou is very hard to even thinking about it, you did to help others. My heart goes out to you. |

| You were so very fortunate that you did not lose her to that car! If you can't fence, please, please get a harness and a retractable leash. Oscar has a 15 foot retractable leash and he can run to his heart's content, but I can keep him safe at the same time. I think these Yorkies definitely have a mind of their own and won't listen half the time when we holler "stop!". A couple of seconds or an inch more, we could have been reading this under a different section of the forum. I am so glad it went this way for you guys and she is o.k. I know you aged a lot in that few seconds! I would have had a coronary!!! Use a leash...you will be glad you did!!! | Whewee!!! I'm thankful things turned out like they did. For that exact reasons Lily CAN NOT go out without a lead. I have chased her for serveral blocks 2 different times.

| You can make a very inexpensive fenced area. I bought a 100 foot roll of green plastic construction fencing and several 3-4 feet high metal poles. I used a bag of plastic pipe hangers( Not sure that is what they are called)to attach the fence to the poles. It can be pulled up and moved in a minutes notice. My entire back yard is fenced with that cause we cannot have fences of certain kinds.. Your message made my stomach flip. I gave a family a little male to help them out cause their stud had been killed by a car. 4 years later the did the same thing with my boy..We hafta keep our eyes on these critters. I am just so glad your baby is okay.. |

| That's quite a scare! Glad everything is okay right now. Yes, it may be a good idea for you to get a harness and leash when you let him out to tinkle, until at least you fully trust him without a leash. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That had to be the most heartstopping feeling...I really felt goosebumps reading this post and I'm so happy you got him in time.... Mine HAVE to be fenced in - their ADHD to a degree...and too nosy tor be free even for a second...No matter how much I think they'll stay around me - all they have to do is see something fun to chase and they're off ! We have a fence or they'd be on their leashes - no freedom for my 2 !! Dianne....That was so tragic - I'm so sorry for your loss..words aren't enough..but I really am sorry to hear that about your baby. |
