| yorkies and chihuahuas Does anyone have both of these breeds? Do they get along ok? I've been reading and some things say that Chihuahuas only get along with their "own kind" so not to get one to live with another breed of dog. Anyone have experience with this? I need some advice please! Thanks, omega |

| I have a chihuahua and a yorkie. They are getting along just fine. My chihuahua however, does not like strangers or children(except for my own). For that reason, I would never recommend a chihuahua as a pet. Mine is 8 years old and while I could blame it on her age and getting grumpy in her old age...she's always been like this. I had a long haired chihuahua that was much more people friendly(she lived to be 15) but it's really a luck of the draw with that breed IMHO. She actually doesn't like dogs, she prefers cats. Finally now she'll play with her little sister(yorkie).

| Emma plays with a Chi named Lola at Doggie Daycare-Emma is twice as big as little Lola, but they play so well together! I think my 5.5 pound Emma enjoys being the "big dog". But--I had a Chi growing up. Not at ALL your typical Chi-6 pounds, NEVER barked, would have rather curled up in your lap then payed attention to anything or anyone else, loved being outside, was perfectly outdoor potty trained, and loyal as can be. But she was also a "land shark", and didn't get along with any other dogs or other animals. When we'd walk her and come upon another dog, she'd freak out, and try to get the other dog. She didn't bark, but once actually bit the nose of a german shepard, and didn't think twice. The shepard didn't know what to do, but my Chi wanted that dog to know this was her turf and her people! I think it all depends on your current dogs, the Chi's personality, and how you acclimate them to one another. |

| I am planning on taking my Chi tons of places with me like I do my Yorkies so she will be really well socialized. Right now she tries to play with my Yorkies but kind of gets beat up a bit. They all have to settle in and get to know each other a bit. She is a bit timid but does like everyone so far..... Thanks for your responses! omega |

| I have no Chi's but my friend has three and they seem to get along with all dogs and people and they get along great with my grandson........right from the get go! My Yorkie on the other hand, does not get along with other dogs and is very stand offish with other people. Don't know what happened to him when he was with his previous owner but he is very unsocialized.
