| Questions about brookers I know this girl from another board (not dog board at all) that breeds labs. She said someone wanted to buy "all" her puppies and that she was a brooker. Me, there would be NO way in H*ll I'd do this! I was wondering what brookers do with the puppies. Do they sell them to individuals, or put them in pet shops? Someone please enlighten me on this! This girl feels she's getting a good deal, getting rid of all of the puppies at once! I don't think its such a good idea at all myself. I'd certainly want to know where my dogs were going! |

| Broker Selling to a Broker is a great deal for the breeder, lousy deal for the dogs....puppies are sold to the broker at about 7 to 8 weeks, they sell them to pet shops, the breeder goes to the bank and has no clue what happened to the pups, no responsiblity, no guarantee to ever up hold...good home, bad home, does not matter, it is all about the money. PS...you can not belong to any Yorkie club if you sell to a broker..it is unethical..enough said! Last edited by YorkieRose; 11-20-2006 at 03:20 PM. |

| Yorkierose, thank you so much for the information. Thats pretty much what I thought, not good at all for the puppies. Its not a dog board, or even a pet board she's on. So I really don't feel I can talk her out of this without her getting mad, or thinking I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. I did ask though, what the brooker planned on doing with the puppies. Maybe that will make her think. But I will say one thing, if she ever THINKS about raising yorkies, I will discourage the h*ll out of her! But she's pretty much stuck with some labs. I hate this, especially since I'd thought so much of this girl. I sure lost all my respect for her when I saw her post. I tried a search for brookers here to see if I could find out more information but didn't come up with anything that taught me what they did with the puppies. Somehow, though, I knew it couldn't be good. Btw, like your PS. Sounds like a great policy to me!!! |

| I just sat down, tired, sweaty, my glasses are halfway fogged up and I read this thread title and it looked like Questions about Hookers.....LOL But, I think brokers just resale puppies to whoever they can at a profit. Teri

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I agree with Pat here. I like knowing where my pups go...the type of family...and keeping in contact with the families. But, that's just me.

| Thats why I asked....I trust you all with yorkies! I'm probably going to be in deep chit before the nights over on that board. I did pm her and asked her to do a google on dog brokers before she let that woman take those pups! Yea, sticking my neck wayyy out on a limb here. With that not being a forum for pets, I have a feeling I'll be catching h*ll before the night is over with, and asked "what suddenly made me such an expert", lol. If I catch h*ll from the forum adm there, it'll be worth it! Least it will give her time to think before she does something that stupid! And dawgcrazee....lol on hooker. Shows you how much I know on dog brokers. Can't even spell it right. Thank you all for setting me straight! Somehow I knew it was really really bad, but I had to ask anyway. I know I've seen several say here "its a brooker, stay away!" in another section of our forum here. |

| see that's what i thought a broker was..no more than a puppy pusher that buys cheap as they can to resale for more money treating them like they are objects not living feeling pets i wouldn't do it!

| Well, I did say something, and only time will tell now. I'd hate to find out she's not a good breeder, but just someone without enough information. I've thought a lot of her, till I saw that post. I have a feeling she doens't know what "brokers" are about at all. Lol, and yea, dawgcrazy just clicked right on this post, only to find no hookers |

| Brokers can pose as Breeders too! Brokers can also pose as "Breeders" too........I bought my male online, thinking I was buying him from a Breeder, later on through paperwork research. I found out that she was actually a Broker, she had bought him from an actual Yorkie Breeder (for peanuts) and re-sold him and many others on her website. But in my first conversation w/her she claimed she had bred him herself. She lied through her teeth about his weight, (he would only be 4.5 lbs. and he's now a whopping 10 lbs.) she lied about his Bloodline (There were no Champions in the past 3 generations anyway) she lied about his age (He was 5 months old not 12 weeks). It took me a whole 2 yrs. before I finally got his AKC. papers to Register him, I had to pay her an extra $300.00 just to get them from her, not to mention the late fees from the AKC. That's how I found out. But she also claims that she breeds her own too? I met a Local Yorkie Breeder @ my Vet. he was getting "Health Certificates" to ship his 5 puppies and he claimed that another Yorkie Breeder bought them all and he gave them a discount for taking them all so he could be done with them at once. (How convenient) He was bragging about it and trying to talk me into doing the same. It turns out that his "Mother" was the Breeder not him, he was just running an errand for her, he's actually only a Groomer @ Petsmart. (That was embarassing fo me) So apparently i'ts very common. That sucks that it all boils down to money. Unfortunetely you can't trust anyone these days. It's sad that the Breed I love and admire the most "Yorkies" have all this controversy, but I'm sure they do it with all the other Breeds too? |
