| Do dogs have dreams or nightmares while they sleep? Lillian is sleeping on her new bed and her little front paw is moving back and forth kicking the sideboard. She looks so silly i'm scared to wake her. |

| I wish I knew. Scares the crude out of me sometimes. My golden likes to sleep in my bed and when she twiches I think she's having seizures.

| I don't know about nightmares but I believe they do dream. You should see both of mine. The move their feet, whimper and make this woof/humph sound and they move their eyes just like we do when we dream. Sometimes I have to wake our big dog up because she makes so much noise.

| Aww... I think she's dreaming! I figure if my parakeet can have dreams (He'll chirp in his sleep), Dogs can too.

| Good question, I wondered the same thing. Trixie twitches sometimes in her sleep and even groans and barks. When I wake her up she has that look of 'What the heck just happened?'

| When my boys dream, it looks like they are trying to run. Their legs move and twitch and they whimper. When they're awake, they are always chasing each other and hiding toys on each other. I'm guessing they're dreaming about what they do when they are awake.

| Okay guys here is a funny but true story. When my husband and I were first married we had a lab and she would "run" in her sleep. So everytime she was sleeping and her legs would start to twitch we would say that she was chasing bunnies. We did this with what ever pet we had. The legs would start to twitch "oh they're chasing bunnies ". When we had kids and they would twitch in their sleep--you guessed it "chasing bunnies". Now the funny part. The other night we were sleeping and my husband is moving all over. I woke up then, I woke him up and said what's going on. He said "I was chasing bunnies, really in my dream I was actually chasing bunnies, and I couldn't get them in their cage." Now when the dogs start twitching in their sleep we can't help but laugh.
