| need help with potty training. Hello! I have just found this site and I am loving it. I just bought a male yorkie. He is nine months old and 2.5 pounds. I had a 4 pound female that did great with going potty outside but Dusty will not go if I am watching or holding the leash. He will mark the trees but nothing else and then when I bring him back in in a few mins I will find a little gift. What is the best way to train a male of this age? |

| Here is the way we get our male to go outside. We take our female and him out on a leash at the same time and have him follow her. He will always go after her.

| take them out at least once a hour they will catch on it may take awhile because yorkies are smaller dogs and can't hold anything for long at all . when they are outside encourage them to go potty and praise them when they do. if they go inside the house you have to catch them in the act tell them no bad dog or something to let them know that's not what you want! immediately take them out to finish and go potty outside! they are really smart and sensitive dogs but they are also stubborn! just keep trying!
