| Rocko is coughing Hi , I have notice that when Rocko gets excited he will start coughing or it sounds like snorting sounds.Can yorkies get hair balls and if so what do you do about it.

| I think it is called reverse sneezing. I heard it was ok, unless they do it alot then its like collapsed trachea |

| Have your vet evaluate the sound -- just to make sure it is not collapsed trachea.

| My little Pete reverse sneezes and also unfortunatly has a collapsing trachea. The reverse sneeze sounds like a pig snort in through the nose and is supposedly not dangerous, his collapsing trachea looks more like a cough that he gags on or like a cat with a hair ball. When his trachea starts to collapse (usually when he's playing hard) we make sure to calm him down so the episode can pass, usually only lasting a few seconds. Its probably something you want to talk to your vet about allthough my vet has never really wanted to do anything about it because its not that frequent. |
