Unhappy Feel bad about putting her outside

Hi All

Its 6am here is Aus and my little girl is of course awake for the day. Par for the course is I take her downstairs, she goes to the toilet, I give her some breakfast and then we play for 20-30 min and I go back to bed (on a weekend at least)

This morning she put up a major performance and was crying and wailing when I went back up to bed (she is in play pen with bed, food, pee mat and toys)....I let her go for a little while to see if she would settle down but no such luck so I have put the play pen in the backyard with all her stuff....but I feel like a mean mummy!

Well, I'm not going to say anything mean, but...I never let mine outside unattended. It isn't safe.

why not bring her where she can be with you ?? I would never do that - but that's me -

but I would bring her into a room where she isn't feeling all alone and maybe see if that helps...shes a baby.....

The first year of having mine I remember them waking me up early every single morning - now they'll usually sleep till I get up.

I'm not anyone to offer opinions actually - I pretty much have mine with me all the time - I never could take crying....I caved everytime.

Is it cold outside there? Yorkies can't handle the extreme changes in weather(too hot or cold). Also some wild animals love to have little dogs as their pray, so I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving any small dog outside alone. Whether in a pen or not, wild animals figure out ways to get at them. Maybe see if your puppy will sleep in your bed with you? Or do you have another room he could go in that isn't close to your bedroom? I know it is tuff when you want to sleep in and they want to be awake and play with you, but that will eventually subside when he gets older. Having a new puppy is like having a newborn baby they require a lot of attention, even at times we wish they didn't. Good luck.

If she has already gone potty, why not let her come back to bed with you??? It is not safe to leave a yorkie outside unattended. And they are highly social animals. She is crying because she feels lonely.

I would also never leave mine outside unattended. I gave in..well not really me..my fiancee did... and now they sleep with us in the bed. Not so much Timmy but Mimi was a whiner and she still is. Whines for anything just like a kid and her daddy doesn't make it any better...sometimes I look at her and tell her "Do you know your a dog" lol because she acts just like a spoiled rotten little girl and now that she has LP forget it...its gotten worse.

It will take some time. I know how frustrating it can be...I have 2 and they are only 1 month apart. I went through several sleepless nights but it was all well worth it.

I wouldn't leave my 2 unattended either. I had trouble getting Lucy to sleep in the playpen alone when she was a baby, so I just moved it in my bedroom and she was fine.

With Rebel it's different. When he gets sleepy you can really tell it. I pick him up and cuddle him in my rocking chair and he falls asleep in about 2 minutes! Then I put him in the pen and cover him up. He's out like a light until the next morning when I get up to take them both outside.

I'd be afraid something (or someone!) would get them.

She doesnt go back to sleep...even in bed with me or with the playpen in my room...she just wants to play.

Its spring here in Aus so very mild and warm all night (summer pjs)

She wasnt roaming around the backyard all alone (we have a small, walled courtyard that is locked and we live in the city, the only other animals you see here are dogs on leashes being walked). She was in her play pen which has her bed and pee tray and toys. I never let her roam anywhere unattended

Maybe she needs a chewie in the morning, something to keep her occupied. In the early AM I always let Lillie come in and lay with me, but she always goes back to sleep. I would never put her outside alone, we have hawks that would come by and swoop her up!

I have a fenced in back yard. I still can't let Molly out there. There is a HUGE hawk that circles the cul de sac I live in. I don't let her out unless she is on a leash. Give that girl a better than ears treat they last a long time and she can't chock on it. I have always got up when my kids get up. I see Molly as another baby. Only she doesn't wake me up a 2:00am for a feeding. HEE HEE!

I can't leave mine outside unattended..........we have a hawk that circles once in a while and he/she is a pretty good size. I don't think it could lift my kids but the talons could certainly do some damage. I guess mine are also spoiled as they are always underfoot whether I am folding clothes, cleaning or at the computer......they want to be with me. They get so upset when I clean the pool with them inside the house (chemicals might hurt them); they just want to be with me..........and I with them!

I raised human twins that I had when I was 22 and believe me there were times I was exhausted. But I learned many tricks that I have used even with my 2 furkids. If you don't want to leave a pup unattended, but you do need to sleep what about safe proofing your room or bringing a crate or pen into your room and try to get some sleep with ear plugs in? Try saving a chew toy or chew stick to give to the pup when they are close to you and you need your sleep. Or proof another safe area of your house, feed, water, and potty your pup. Put them in there, go to your room, shut your door, put ear plugs in and sleep. Once you are rested you will not feel resentment toward the pup for your lack of sleep and your baby will be safe. Hopefully you will find something because rest is important. They say take care of yourself or you will not be able to care for others..Good Luck.
